The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] novel Chapter 856

Chapter 856: A Bloom Worth Waiting For

It was fair game.

Given what was about to happen, it would have been perfectly understandable if a few people felt weak in the knees. Fainting, however, was highly discouraged. Not because anyone would mock them for it, but because waking up afterward with the crushing realization that they had missed everything would be far worse.

Regret was a powerful thing.

So what, exactly, had everyone mobilizing at such an hour?

What was important enough that even those who had already left the dungeon space scrambled back without bothering to fix their hair or dignity?

The answer revealed itself the moment hurried footsteps echoed across the clearing.

"Has it started yet?"

Marshal Julian’s voice cut through the low hum of conversation as he strode toward the gathering crowd, expression taut with urgency.

"Good evening, Marshal!" Luca greeted brightly, waving even though it was well past what most people would consider a reasonable hour to be cheerful.

Julian slowed just enough to glance at him. "Did I make it on time?"

"Yes, Marshal!" Luca said quickly. "D-29 has been monitoring them, and so far, we’re supposedly just in time! We’re just waiting for the others so we could port over instead of everyone trekking through the forest."

The Marshal exhaled, relief flickering across his face. He had practically flown through his work just to get here, worried he would be late. "Ah. That’s good then."

Luca hesitated, then bowed slightly. "Still, I’m sorry for calling everyone so late. But after Jax and the elders finally verified it, we felt it would be best to inform everyone immediately. It’s definitely not required to go, but I figured people would be sad if they didn’t get notified at the very least."

Julian glanced around at the assembled figures and eventually spotted a small princess rubbing her eyes while stubbornly refusing to yawn.

"...It’s understandable," he said slowly. "And we should be thanking you instead."

Luca felt relieved that people seemed to be fine despite him sending messages to everyone including those who were burning the midnight oil outside of the dungeon space.

And yet he really felt like it was the right thing to do.

Coincidentally, he thought this was also the perfect moment because the arrival of Jax’s parents matched today’s unexpected event. In fact, it almost felt intentional, as if the plants were just waiting for the perfect moment!

Yes. Plants.

This was all because of plants.

The reason everyone had been dragged out of bed, including a certain little princess who was now well past her bedtime, was an accidental discovery made by the elders while they were cataloging the dungeon flora during their spare time.

It had started as routine work. Preparation for the essential upgrade to Dungeon Level 4.

See, despite having the greatest amount of CP Luca has ever held, they had to wait out the upgrade for several reasons. But arguably, the main cause for the delay was the preparations for a possible major upheaval.

The Level 3 upgrade alone had caught everyone completely off guard.

If not for the gluttonous intervention of the colossal Tortie, who had enthusiastically cleaned out entire fields by himself, they would have ended up drowning in wasted fruits and vegetables.

So wouldn’t it have been easier to just harvest everything and upgrade immediately?

Ideally, yes.

Only this time, things were far more complicated.

They were no longer dealing with just the harvests inside the dungeon space. They also had to consider everything growing in the dungeon-linked space. And inconveniently, both needed to be handled within the same window of time.

Sure, they actually didn’t know if something would happen to the dungeon-linked space once the dungeon itself was upgraded but if something did, then that would be really unfortunate for them who could have taken precautions in advance.

And that was just the concerns related to crops and trees.

What about all those rescued beasts residing in the dungeon-linked space?

They couldn’t possibly be allowed to roam freely while something similar to that massive land movement was to happen, right?

It was a logistical nightmare, really. And given what was at stake, they couldn’t just decide haphazardly.
