Yes, she did.
And no wonder the little Princess had been so very proud of it, because even Countess Jenna found herself deathly proud to have seen something like that with her very own eyes.
The tree house was nothing short of a fairytale brought to life.
Actually, if she were being honest, it was particularly like something straight out of those tales from ancient humans. Unfortunately, the people of today wouldn’t have dreamt of living alongside the "trees" commonly found in the remaining habitable planets because of how dangerous that could be.
To think that for the longest time, such a scene would have been impossible to imagine. And yet there it was!
It was apparently nestled safely within the wide, ancient branches of a massive living tree whose bark shimmered faintly with spiritual vitality.
The Princess explained, quite seriously, that permission had been asked first, which meant the house was not carved into the tree but gently held by it, supported as if cradled in willing arms.
And as if to illustrate the fact, the excitable tree house owner even told her about the rituals she, Mr. Quackers, and Snowy would hold weekly as a way to thank the grandpa tree for holding up their house.
Sometimes, her pets wouldn’t particularly cooperate, but on most days they would manage to perform their sacred ritual without incident.
"!!!"
The structure itself was elegant and airy, with curved wooden panels and wide windows that let sunlight spill freely inside. Delicate carvings traced along the railings and beams, clearly decorative but placed with enough thought that no sharp edges or narrow walkways would trouble the residents and their visitors. It was whimsical, yes, but undeniably practical.
"And look!" Princess Nina said, pointing with pride. "There are two swings!"
Countess Jenna followed her gaze and couldn’t help but smile. It felt familiar yet foreign as children back at the capital had metal swings in school. However, she couldn’t have imagined such a version.
The swings hung securely from reinforced branches, wide enough for grown guests and clearly reinforced for safety. They swayed gently with the breeze, as if inviting everyone to play.
They climbed the steps together, and the moment Countess Jenna stepped inside, she froze.
The interior felt alive.
Not in the humming, artificial way she was used to, but in a deep, breathing sense that wrapped around her skin. Spiritual energy flowed through the walls, the floor, even the furniture. Soft light filtered in as if the room itself was aware of where it was needed most.
She had lived surrounded by advanced technology for years, but after experiencing DG’s booth, she thought that was the pinnacle. She had even allowed herself grand dreams that would have seemed impossible just moments ago.
And yet, despite thinking that was the pinnacle of everything, there was still something like this!
She was stunned.
And then she was even more stunned when the young Princess clasped her hands together and spoke with the gravity of someone imparting a great secret.
"We can also look at the other cabins for inspiration!" Princess Nina said. Her expression turned stern, her back straightening. "The design is usually up to the owner. My Brother Chipmunk said it is very important for everyone to be comfortable with their own personal space."
Countess Jenna blinked. "Your Highness," she asked slowly, "does that mean I get to decide what mine would look like, too?"
"Yes, my lady!" the Princess replied without hesitation. "In fact, you would also be the one in charge of building it!"
"!!!"
The Princess continued cheerfully, completely unfazed. "Of course everyone would help just like they did with my house, but doing it yourself is really fun! And Lord Killian observed that dungeon-crafted items are very good for cultivation, so it’s best to make as many things as possible from what we have here."
She nodded solemnly. "Lord Killian and his father didn’t spend much time on the outside of their house, but their desks and chairs are the best out of everyone’s. I think it took them days to get it right, but in the end they managed to make them."
Then she added brightly, "But using capsules for the meantime works too if you don’t really want to stay with brother Jax while your house is being built!"
Countess Jenna paused at the mention of her son.
