The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] novel Chapter 937

Chapter 937: A Rude Awakening

Luca stared at both elves and realized that after so long, things were finally starting to make sense.

Sure enough, he, or at least the body he now occupied, really had gone to the academy together with Prince Elior and Rahil.

He remembered his earlier distress and the sense of abandonment he felt for the person whom he thought originally owned the body he was occupying.

But now that everything had been laid out, he understood something else.

They had just been unlucky.

So unbelievably unlucky that even Ada had recommended they perform a few rituals.

A few, meaning many.

It had sounded like a casual suggestion at the time, but the Orcish aide had been completely serious, because just how unlucky could three people possibly get before it became suspicious?

First and foremost, at this point in time, Duke Leander, who had actually been contaminated, wasn’t doing so well. In fact, his health had been so bad that the people in the know were just praying for any kind of miracle.

Any would do, really.

It didn’t even help that his son had to leave the planet just for a test.

But as if they were meant to really face insurmountable difficulties, a massive space storm had swept Planet Kyros, effectively cutting them off once again.

However, in reality, even if none of those actually happened, they would still face one major boss: school policy.

The Royal Military Academy had a strict policy of equality, something they fought tooth and nail to uphold. And if it was going to mean anything, it had to begin before cadets even set foot on Planet Nova.

Why?

Because what would be the point of minimizing discussions about status and family background if everyone was immediately reminded of who was who the moment they arrived with an entire entourage?

Testing day would’ve been a spectacle for all the wrong reasons. Battleships lining the docks. Students descending with noble banners. Maids fussing over the littlest things. Guards forming lines behind teens who hadn’t even learned how to fill out their own documents.

Obviously, not everyone was like that. But for the unfortunate people who didn’t have to hold their own cups while drinking, it would be one hell of a rude awakening.

The instructors, as well as the military members, couldn’t help but agree that those who had never needed to do anything for themselves needed to be forced to start right then and there.

It sounded like a ridiculously trivial concern, but it was a very real scenario. Why would said students bother standing in line outside the administrative offices if someone else could do it for them?

So the academy had to put its foot down.

"Oh! That’s true!" Ollie suddenly exclaimed, snapping his fingers as the memory resurfaced. "I remember asking my parents if they didn’t love me anymore because they wouldn’t even accompany me to school, unlike before!"

The room paused.

"They just waved and sent me off to ride the commuter craft!" he continued, scandalized even now. "Turns out it wasn’t allowed, unlike when I was still in the Junior Academy. So I actually had to go by myself!" 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

He folded his arms, then added, "And when I got to enrollment, there were actually students who didn’t know what to do. Like, at all."

"I understand that they also didn’t know where to find all the offices, but it was odd hearing how a lot of them weren’t sure about their personal details when my Pop would skin me alive if I didn’t take care of my own contracts."

"But what can be done when apparently someone had always handled those little things for them?"

The blonde tilted his head and sighed dramatically.

"Now, I can just imagine how bad that would be on a battlefield!"

To be fair, Kyle’s left eye only twitched a little when his little star said something that sounded so foreign.

Then again, what could he say when the same guy who needed help wearing his fluffy slippers in the morning could write forms, build bombs, and operate businesses?

So yep, there was that.

Ollie Mylor at least had that level of independence that wasn’t optional for future officers. Just don’t expect him to be awake half the time.

But for those who had problems with other things his little mop was great at, the academy set a few rules to combat helplessness.

Like only allowing students to fly in during a specific window, unless there were special circumstances, such as wartime emergencies or when needing assistance in cases of illness.

__

And that was how the three of them had entered together.

Rahil had been scheduled to enroll as a student anyway. That was the easy part.

See, that was what separated nobles from actual elites. Prestigious families didn’t just raise a single heir and hope for the best. They prepared others alongside them. Competent children who could later serve as aides, confidantes, or strategic partners.

In this case, Rahil was meant to play that role. A teen so proficient at the job, people of House Kyros thought he was born for it. Then again, they couldn’t have known that he had been training as one since he started learning how to read.

But that still left one question hanging.

What about Young Lord Luca and his body double?

__

Well, that was apparently where it got tricky, because Luca had been Elior’s justification for being there in the first place.

They’d rolled in the real Luca in a wheelchair to explain why the heir of House Kyros needed to travel with a nurse while he was still in recovery.

"But that was really just so we could eventually switch," Prince Elior explained calmly. "I would replace Luca after the test. He’d be returned to Planet Kyros while pretending to be the nurse heading back."

All in all, it should have been a viable plan if not for everything just falling out of place.

Like when they suddenly received a message from the dwarven artisan they’d been transacting with during their gambling days.

The liaison had apparently arrived earlier than expected and could hand over the commissioned piece ahead of schedule.

In hindsight, they should’ve been more cautious.

Even with old contacts.

They should’ve known better than to assume that prior cooperation guaranteed safety.

But they didn’t.

Instead, they took advantage of the window while Luca was undergoing testing. They wouldn’t have been allowed to accompany him anyway, and once they officially enrolled as students, they wouldn’t have been able to leave the academy grounds right away.

It had seemed like the perfect opportunity.

They just hadn’t expected a different kind of greeting from those goblins.

Ideally, goblins shouldn’t have posed much of a threat. Prince Elior had shrunk himself to hide, as was their usual practice, though it took more effort than it should have because of his condition.

Even then, a mere handful of goblins shouldn’t have been enough to overpower Rahil, let alone both of them.

But then the creatures took out something that made both elves go cold.
