What the hell was I thinking?
Oh, right, I wasn’t.
I was caught up in the moment, completely forgetting where we were. I mean, Jinx’s family is here, his kid. Was I really about to… Wait, what were we going to do?
Jinx was going to finger me until I came, that much was for certain. Hell, it was fu.cking promised to me. But would it have gone further? Were we about to have se.x?
Shouldn’t I feel more nervous about that?
I think I was more freaked out about that than anything. I thought I would be embarrassed, nervous, shy, something like that after such a hot and intense moment. But I wasn’t. I just watched Jinx fix himself in his jeans, wondering what his d***k looked like. I’ve never wondered that about anyone in my life. Not even Theo. Theo and I did just about everything under the sun, but I never… I
never felt this level of attraction and need for him.
It freaked me out. Because this is Jinx we’re talking about. Even though I was desperately trying to escape, all I could think about was the conversation I had with Deb earlier. It somehow calmed me,
made me feel more confident.
Now that I’m waiting by the door though, I am feeling nervous. Did I sound like a total id.iot trying to flirt with him? What if I sounded laughable? I mean, he spends his days surrounded by half–naked beautiful women who flirt for a living. What if I made a total fool out of myself?
I couldn’t stand there anymore, so I walked back towards Jinx’s bedroom. I’ll just say that I’m saying goodnight to Waylen since I didn’t get the chance. I just need something to do or say so that I stop spiraling.
Just when I was almost to Jinx’s open door, something Waylen said stopped me in my tracks.
“Dad, do you think if we give Dra the best Christmas ever that she’ll want to be my mom?”
His voice sounded so hopeful and serious. It made my heart swell and fear coil in my belly at the same time. The longer that Jinx didn’t reply, the more my heart raced. I don’t expect him to build Waylen’s hopes up, but… I was curious about what he had to say too.
“Do you want to know what I really think? No bullshit?” Jinx finally said. There was a short pause before he continued. “I think that Dra already wants to be your mom. I think she’s afraid to admit that because of me though. She loves you somethin‘ fierce, bud. But things aren’t that simple

either. I don’t want you to get your hopes up. We can try to give her the best Christmas ever, but that doesn’t guarantee us anything.”
That… was so sweet… and… maybe a little true? Part of me always wished I was Waylen’s mom. Or an aunt or something. Someone to be able to have a reason to let him come stay with me. Of course, with Glory gone now, things are different. Waylen’s happier, but he still seeks me out. I still love and care about him like he were my own. At least, I think. But I’d also like to think I would treat any kind that way. I just… never had the opportunity to see if that was true.
Plus, Jinx and I have never gotten along. I never had any kind of hopes of being Waylen’s stepmother. I still don’t. I mean, that would just be absurd. Jinx is a biker. They don’t settle down until their like 40. It’s a rule or something.
The way that Jinx said it though… like he was trying, like he hoped so too…
“Is that why you’ve been flirting with her?” Waylen said. “Chance says that you guys make googly eyes at each other a lot. Like his mom and dad.”
We do not!
“I’m trying to make her comfortable with me.”
Well, he’s doing a superb job.
“Granny told Gramps that you’re in love with Dra,” Waylen stated, making Jinx choke. Which was
great because I’m pretty sure I made a strangled naise from the shock of that too.
I mean, in love? Really? That’s pushing it a bit.
“I think you love her too. I always thought that.”
Oh my god, this kid… He’s been spending too much time with his Granny, apparently.
“You have?”
“You always looked at her differently. Like the way that Gramps looks at Granny.”
He… does? Did? Past and present?
“How about you just focus on being a good boy for Santa, and let me worry about Dra, okay?”
At that, I rushed back to the door. I put my boots and coat on, pretending like I didn’t just eavesdrop on a conversation that I clearly should not have heard. I’m desperately trying not to think about it right now. I’m going to spiral about it for sure, but not in front of Jinx. He’ll know
something’s up.
I heard him walking towards me and turned around. My smile might have been a little too big. Jinx
just stopped in his tracks, staring at me for a moment.
Is that the look of love that everyone’s talking about? Looks more like lust to me… Right?

Yeah, that’s definitely it.
“Ready?” he asked as he walked closer, grabbing his boots.
“Ready,” I replied, swallowing past the lump in my throat.
Jinx took my hand and I let him. I didn’t fight it when he entwined our fingers together. He pulled me close to his body as we walked back to my cabin. It was quiet, and the night was beautiful. When we got to my door, I unlocked it and stepped inside. I turned around to face Jinx, hesitating
as I looked at him.
His hair is a mess from me running my fingers through it. He’s still fully dressed with his cut showing proudly under his open coat. All day he wore it on the outside of his coat. I found the way he wore his patch so proudly in an area where his brothers aren’t around so admirable. That black long–sleeved Henley shirt clings to his muscles. I can’t even look at his jeans. I’d see the still very rock–hard bulge there. And who knows what would happen if I acknowledged it?
“You look like you want to ask to come back with me,” he said.
I gave him a flat look and he laughed.
“Can’t blame me for trying,” he said.
“Because then you’d fulfill your promise?” I blurted, my face heating.
“Nah, that couldn’t happen tonight,” he replied with that stupid smirk of his. “Way’s gonna be knocked out in my bed by the time I get back. We’d be sharing the bed with my son.”
I smiled at him, feeling like I was seeing a whole different side of him that I had never paid
attention to before.
“You’re such a great dad, Brixton,” I said, the words just slipping right out.
Jinx blushed, looking at me with wide eyes for a moment. He lifted a hand to rub the back of his neck as he took a step closer. A small smile twitched at the corners of his lips.
“You mean that?” he asked.
I nodded.
“Thought you always thought I was sh.it after everything Glory did,” he mumbled.
“Kinda thought you were for a while,” I admitted.
“I swear I had no idea what was going on,” he rushed out, serious now. “I never would have thought Glory would do something like that to her own kid. Waylen never… he never said anything. I just thought they were out and about, or… home.”
“Wouldn’t you have seen them?” I asked, genuinely curious.

Jinx shook his head.

“They stayed in a house on the property, but I had a room in the clubhouse I stayed in. Glory and I were never together. I was working my a.ss off going through law school, prepping for the bar exam, and anything War needed for the club. I saw Way as much as I could, but… guess it wasn’t often enough,” he told me.
“Sorry, law school?” I asked.
That made Jinx smirk at me.
“Didn’t know I was actually smart, did ya?” He teased me.
“I guess I didn’t know a lot of things about you, Brix I replied, smiling at him as I closed the space between us. “I wish I would have gotten to know you sooner, because I really like everything I see so far. Especially how good of a daddy you are.”
I laughed lightly as I placed my palm gently on his chest. Jinx just stared at me though. His blue–green eyes were intense, and for a moment, I thought I might have said the wrong thing. But then his hands were sinking into my hair and his lips were on mine.
I kissed Jinx back eagerly. His kiss was intense, deep, desperate. It was hard but slow, sensual. His tongue caressed mine. Fireworks went off behind my closed lids.
Much too soon though, Jinx pulled away. I felt dazed. I wanted to pull him back in, but had to remind myself that Waylen was waiting for him.
“Get your a.ss inside and into bed before I throw you over my shoulder and take you back with me,” he said in that deep, dark tone I was starting to love. “And just for future reference…” he said before bringing his lips to my ear. “Calling me daddy will get you into trouble with me, Wisteria. Next time you use that word, make sure you’re prepared for the consequences.”
With that, Jinx grabbed my shoulders and spun me around. He gave my a.ss a nice smack, making me yelp and sending me stumbling forward. I looked back in time to see him wink at me before closing the door.
Now I was finally alone with my spiraling thoughts.
