This particular suburban district is mostly desolate, home to only a few legacy pharmacies and heavily guarded private villas. Tara just happens to be in the area shopping for some rare medicinal herbs. She turns around, catching sight of a figure hurrying away down the street.
Tara squints at the retreating silhouette. The posture is strikingly familiar. Is that Jade? What on earth is Jade doing all the way out here? And why is she dressed like she's on the run from the law?
"Excuse me," Tara asks the pharmacist with feigned casualness, her fingers lightly trailing over the herbs on the glass counter. "Does that young lady come around here often?"
The old store owner pushes his reading glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Not too often. But whenever she does, she always heads to The Ivy Grove just behind the woods." Because the area is so remote, Jade's aggressively low-profile disguises actually make her stick out like a sore thumb, easily catching the locals' attention.
Tara nods, keeping her expression neutral. Who would have thought she'd stumble upon something this interesting today?
After leaving the villa, Jade calls up Summer for a shopping trip, needing a solid alibi so no one questions her whereabouts. She needs to bring a few shopping bags home, at the very least. Summer happens to be free, and they agree to meet at the high-end mall downtown.
"Jade, are you holding up okay?" Summer asks, brimming with concern.
"I'm fine. I was grounded for a whole week, all thanks to that psycho Tara," Jade complains bitterly.
"Just keep your distance from her. By the way, your birthday is coming up soon! How do you want to celebrate?" Summer asks.
"I don't know yet," Jade replies, pressing her lips together. Truthfully, she wants to go on a romantic getaway with Evan. But he has been growing increasingly distant lately, and she isn't confident he'll agree.
"Evan?" Summer suddenly blurts out.
"How did you know I was thinking about him?" Jade asks, a bashful flush creeping up her neck.
