Chapter 120
Chapter 120
Just wait, Garrison sneers to himself. Once I remove him from the board, I’ll never have to take orders from him again.
Danny drives straight to Tara’s apartment. He has visited enough times that the route is second nature. Tara, used to his unannounced visits, immediately checks his pulse the moment he sits down.
As her cool fingertips press against his wrist, an unexplainable sense of calm washes over him. A subtle, electric tension lingers in the air.
“Your stress levels are off the charts. Have you been pulling all-nighters again?” Tara asks, her brow furrowing slightly.
Danny chuckles. “You can tell all that just from my pulse?”
“Don’t change the subject,” Tara says, pulling her hand away and turning to a row of porcelain bottles on her counter. “I adjusted the formula. This should target the fatigue and the migraines.”
As she hands him the bottle, Danny’s phone vibrates. He checks a text from Leo, and his expression instantly turns freezing cold. “My uncle sent someone to tail me.”
In his rush to see her, he hadn’t checked his rearview mirror.
Tara raises an eyebrow. “Need me to take care of them?”
“No,” Danny replies, pocketing his phone and smoothing his expression. “Let them watch. But
you need to be careful. I don’t want you dragged into my family’s mess.”
