The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 138

Initially, Tricia thought Alec's mother and Jade hated her because she didn't come from old money. But she quickly realized it was just Jade's psychotic possessiveness. Jade acted as if her three brothers were her personal property, forbidden from ever dating or getting married. Thinking about that deeply disturbed family makes Tricia's heart ache for her friend.

"Tara, I honestly don't know how you survive that madhouse with your sanity intact. You're incredible," Tricia murmurs, her eyes soft with sympathy.

A cool, dangerous smile touches Tara's lips. "It's fine. I've completely cut ties with the Dennis family. They have zero power over me now." Her eyes flash with dark amusement. "Honestly, I love watching their smug little faces crumble. Watching them fall from their pedestals is better than prime-time television."

"Ugh," Tricia sighs, her brow furrowing in disgust. "Your brothers are absolute trash. Especially Alec. The fact that he treats a sister like you like garbage just proves he's completely blind."

"Sounds like you're finally over him," Tara notes, a teasing lilt in her voice.

"I recently registered Astra Media. I'm going independent, and I want to cultivate a roster of genuine, top-tier talent," Tara explains smoothly. "I'd love nothing more than for a powerhouse manager like you to help me build the next generation of superstars. Plus, Bianca is joining us."

Bianca is another of Tara's fiercely loyal friends from their university days. A brilliant PR and operations strategist, Bianca used to work for a major publicly traded firm. Unfortunately, her former boss was a sleazeball who couldn't keep his hands to himself. True to her fiery nature, Bianca rejected his advances in spectacular fashion and was promptly fired. His loss is Tara's gain; she scooped Bianca up without a second thought.
