"Get in," he says. His deep, predatory gaze—usually so cold and untouchable to the rest of the world—is impossibly soft as he looks at her.

"What are you doing here?" Tara asks, naturally slipping into the passenger seat.

"I knew you were coming here to finalize your termination. Figured the timing was about right, so I drove by to see if I could offer you a ride."
