After returning home, Jade catches a chill and runs a high fever that very night. She burns up, slipping in and out of a delirious haze. Initially, the Dennis family had some reservations about her actions at the gala, but seeing her so sick, their hearts ache for her, and the whole incident is quickly brushed under the rug.

Jade is furious; she had tried to set a trap for Tara but ended up falling into it herself. Knowing that Tara has managed to latch onto Danny makes her even more violently jealous. She can’t believe that little bitch got so lucky.

In the living room, the rest of the Dennis family is discussing the situation.

Alec speaks up indignantly, “Tara is way out of line. How could she push Jade into the pool like that? She’s completely out of control.”

“Now that she’s hooked up with Danny, she thinks she has someone backing her,” Mrs. Dennis says, her brow furrowed deep.

“Hmph, Danny is probably just playing around with her. How could someone like him be serious?” Jake remarks dismissively. Men understand men best, and with Danny’s status and power, he can have any woman he wants.

“But don’t forget, she still holds thirty percent of the shares. If she sells those to Danny, then our company…” Nikolai trails off, but everyone’s eyes widen in alarm. They clearly hadn’t considered this. It is a fatal flaw!

Mr. Dennis speaks through gritted teeth. “Find out where Tara is staying right now. Even if we have to tie her up, drag her back here.”

“Dad, calm down. I’ve already got people looking into it,” Jake says.

No sooner does Jake speak than his assistant sends over Tara’s address. He frowns deeply as he looks at the information. Summit Crest Estate. It is an ultra-exclusive luxury neighborhood. Everyone living there is incredibly wealthy or powerful; even the Dennis family would have a hard time buying property there. Where did Tara get the money to live in a place like that? Is Alec right? Is she really being kept as a sugar baby? And by Danny no less?

He hands the address over for the rest of them to see, and a heavy silence falls over the room. Mr. Dennis’s face flushes with rage. “Tell her to come back immediately before she embarrasses us any further.”

Just then, Jade makes her way down the stairs, having overheard everything from above. She walks over and says softly, “I saw Tara at the gala and tried to convince her to come home. I told her not to do things that would embarrass the family, but she wouldn’t listen. Maybe… maybe the only way to get her back is if Jake brings out that agency contract and forces her to fulfill it.”

Jade’s words instantly strike a chord with Jake. He suddenly realizes he has completely forgotten about such a crucial piece of leverage.

Years ago, after Jade graduated, she dreamed of becoming a star. Being the fiercely protective older brother he was, Jake founded an entertainment company and signed Jade as his first female artist.
