Alec's voice rings with shock. His pupils flare rapidly, and he freezes in place as if struck by lightning. Just a few minutes ago, he was standing by her side regardless of the consequences, even harshly reprimanding his own sister to protect her. Now, he feels a sharp sting of humiliation.
"No, I didn't. Jasmine was jealous of Tara and told me about it. I disagreed and tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen. I couldn't do anything about it!" Fortunately, she held something back, deliberately instigating Jasmine to be her weapon without doing it herself. Now that Jasmine is brought over for questioning, she completely distances herself from the mess.
Jasmine, completely unprepared for things to blow up so quickly, is instantly terrified. Especially under Alec's piercing glare. She is just about to explain herself to him when his ruthless voice sounds from above.
"Jasmine, what is your problem? Don't drag Jade down with you just for your own jealousy. Stay away from her from now on!"
"I..." Jasmine tries to explain, feeling deeply wronged.
"Alec, don't be too hard on her. She just had a momentary lapse in judgment. She didn't mean it." Jade immediately plays the peacemaker.
"You don't need to explain anything to her. People like this have bad intentions. Stop hanging out with her!" Alec believes Jade once again and glares at Jasmine. "Don't you dare come near Jade again, you hear me?" He can't let these scheming women get near Jade, or they will corrupt her.
Jasmine opens her mouth, wanting to say something, but the words won't come out. She figures it is useless anyway. No one will believe her, and she doesn't want to humiliate herself further. This Alec guy is seriously unhinged. She needs to stay far away from a sister-obsessed fanatic like him, or she will definitely suffer in the long run. Any lingering affection she had for Alec completely vanishes.
Watching everything unfold quietly from the side, Tara is extremely satisfied with this outcome. She smiles at Jasmine. "Forget it. Since we usually stay out of each other's way and you were just manipulated, I will let it go this time. Keep your eyes open when you make friends from now on."
"You better not follow us, or if you end up dragging the Jewell family down with you, that's your own problem." Danny blocks Evan, his tone completely hostile. This leaves Evan in a terribly awkward spot, unable to leave but unable to stay.
After exchanging pleasantries with the organizers, Tara's group skips the celebration party and heads straight home.
"Since you have your friend and employee with you, I guess you don't need me to take you back," Danny sounds rather disappointed.
Unfortunately, Tara completely misses the deeper meaning behind his words and replies bluntly, "Are you asking me to give you a ride home?"
