Jade isn't stupid enough to reveal her actual supplier, so she casually fabricates a believable excuse. As long as it works, that's all that matters.
"You should try it, Mrs. Jewell. I haven't even given any to my own mother yet," Jade says, sticking her tongue out playfully.
Her eagerness to please is glaringly obvious. She is doing all of this for Evan.
"Is that so? Thank you, Jade. You're so sweet. Far better than Tara," Lana replies, naturally taking the skincare set.
At her age, Lana has seen it all. She knows exactly what this girl's flattery means. So, she effortlessly humors her with sweet words.
Jade's heart leaps. A sugary smile brightens her face. "Lana, you'll definitely see results after using it for a while. I do a lot of research on skincare. If you have any questions, you can always ask me."
Lana nods with a smile, deliberately dropping a hint. "You really understand me, Jade. If Tara were even half as good as you, I'd have so much less to worry about."
It's a shame, Lana thinks. The girl holding the thirty percent shares isn't Jade.
Unaware of Lana's true thoughts, a rush of ecstasy washes over Jade. She shakes her head with feigned shyness. "Please don't tease me. I'm nowhere near as outstanding as my sister. She and Evan are a match made in heaven."
"Ugh, don't even bring up Tara. You saw her behavior today. She's incredibly arrogant!"
Mentioning Tara genuinely frustrates Lana. Truth be told, if Tara didn't bring such massive financial benefits, Lana would choose a docile, easily manipulated girl like Jade in a heartbeat.
"My sister is definitely... fiercely independent. She always does whatever she wants. She doesn't even respect my parents or my brothers, so she definitely won't be easy to tame."
