Lana knows the grim reality: the medication prescribed by top specialists is completely useless. A few plastic surgeons have even suggested full skin grafts. But grafts aren't a simple fix. Beyond the questionable results and potential complications, the thought of enduring a dozen major surgeries terrifies her.
"Can you really fix my face?" Lana asks, her voice trembling with a mix of hesitation and sheer desperation. She has no other options; this is a last-ditch effort.
"Of course. Why else would I be here?" Tara strides over, her posture relaxed but her tone deadly serious. "My consultation fee is steep, though. Don't assume I'm doing this out of the goodness of my heart."
"How much?" Lana asks automatically.
"Ten million dollars." Considering the skincare set is a valuable clue for her own investigation, Tara is already giving her a steep discount.
"What? Ten million? Are you out of your mind?" Lana gasps.
Aunt Kellen, on the other hand, just smiles. She realizes how lucky she was; if her brilliant niece charges this much for a house call, her own treatment back then must have been worth a fortune. She watches Tara, feeling a swell of pride at the radiant, confident young woman before her.
"It's fine. Jade caused this mess, so Deanna can foot the bill," Tara says, flashing a sweet, wicked smile as she effortlessly shifts the financial burden onto Deanna.
Deanna seethes with a potent mix of anger and resentment. She wishes she could strangle this unruly daughter, but she knows she wouldn't stand a chance in a physical fight. "Fine," Deanna snaps. "If you're so confident, let's see you try."
Pushed into a corner, Lana has no choice. She can't think of a single alternative and has to pin all her hopes on the one girl she despises most. It is absurd, but she has to swallow her pride.
