Chapter 21
Chapter 21
Jade knows Tara is far too stubborn to compromise easily. To ensure she gets her way, Jade already approached Jake with a calculated backup plan: if Tara refuses to sign over her shares, they should throw her to the wolves on a grueling reality show.
Jake initially hesitated, but Jade knew exactly which buttons to push. “Jake, once she’s on camera, we have endless ways to destroy her reputation,” she said, her voice dripping with false innocence. “The public backlash will be so suffocating she’ll have no choice but to bow her head. She’ll hand over the shares just to make it stop.”
Her plan is sinisterly simple: expose Tara’s supposed arrogance and incompetence to the world, let the cyberbullying break her spirit, and finally get their revenge.
Swayed by the prospect of an easy victory, Jake pulled a few strings and forced Tara onto the cast of the Elite Circle. Conveniently, the Dennis Family’s entertainment empire is one of the show’s major
investors.
When Jake drops the news, Tara simply raises an eyebrow. “Oh? What kind of reality show?”
Jake smirks, pulling a sleek folder from his briefcase and sliding it across the desk. “The Elite Circle. It fits your current image perfectly,” he says, leaning heavily on the word “image.”
Tara flips open the file, barely suppressing a laugh as she reads the synopsis. It is a survival show designed to strip wealthy heiresses of their luxuries and force them into bottom-tier living conditions. The producers deliberately set up impossible tasks, entirely for the amusement of watching spoiled socialites make absolute fools of themselves on national television. It is quite an interesting concept. And she knows exactly what they are plotting-they want her to be the ultimate laughingstock.
Tara lets out a cold scoff, her gaze shifting sharply between Jade and Jake. “Wow. What an incredible opportunity.”
Jake pushes up his glasses, feigning professional concern. “The Elite Circle is the hottest reality show in the country right now. Going on as a sister-duo with Jade is the perfect PR move to repair your shattered public image.”
Jade seizes the moment, a glint of triumph flashing in her eyes. “Exactly! Audiences absolutely adore sisterly bonds. We can tackle the challenges together, support each other-”
“Support each other?” Tara cuts her off with a sharp laugh. “You mean it makes it easier for you to
stab me in the back.”
Jade’s smile instantly crumbles. Her eyes well up with practiced tears. “How could you say something so awful to me?”
Mr. Dennis slams his hand on the table, his face dark with fury. “Tara! This is a company-mandated appearance, and you will participate! Need I remind you of Clause 17 in your contract? You are required to unconditionally obey all company schedules.”
“Don’t worry,” Tara replies with a chilling calmness. “I’ll do your little show.” You begged for this, she thinks. Don’t come crying when it blows up in your faces.
“Good. Filming starts in three days. I’ll text you the location,” Jake says briskly.
