But Jade quickly finds comfort in her own logic. Danny is just playing around. A man of his elite status is completely out of reach—even Jade wouldn't dare dream of securing him. There is absolutely no way Tara will ever marry Danny. Once Danny ruins her and throws her away, Jade will be right there to laugh in her face. That thought soothes her. Ignoring Lina entirely, Jade follows her own whims and runs off to find Alec.
Lina is entirely used to this behavior. It disgusts her, but she knows she has to swallow her pride when dealing with wealthy stars like Jade.
The moment Jade steps into Alec's office, she effortlessly slips into her sweet, innocent persona. "Alec, did you see the behind-the-scenes clips and trending topics for my sister's movie?"
"Yeah, I saw them. That script is just our leftover trash anyway. A niche project like that won't go anywhere, even with a big-name director," Alec says dismissively. He is confident that the Dennis family's heavy investment in their massive adaptation—also helmed by a famous director, backed by original fans, and fitting the popular romance mold—will leave Tara's project in the dust.
"I completely agree! Don't worry, Alec, I'll work so hard. I won't let my sister look down on us," Jade says, the picture of ambition. Then, with feigned casualness, she adds, "I was just thinking, since I'm the lead and this is a trendy fashion drama, maybe I should have a few more outfits?"
She is furious that Tara, a mere supporting actress, has a larger and vastly superior wardrobe than her own fashion-centric lead character. Tara's movie is supposed to be some rustic period piece, yet everyone on screen looks absolutely stunning and camera-ready. She never expected that nobody Kent to be so insanely talented, pulling out everyone's best features and maximizing their aura. It is all Alec's fault. He clearly lacked Kent's talent but insisted on suppressing him, causing the Dennis family to lose a brilliant stylist. Of course, she would never dare say that out loud.
"Jade, a good movie relies on solid acting. You need to put all your energy and focus into studying your character," Alec replies, frowning. He dislikes Kent and looks down on Jim's script, but the Dennis family poured an astronomical sum into their project. He isn't thrilled that Jade is focusing on superficial details.
On cue, Jade's eyes well up with tears. "Alec, I've been putting so much heart into this," she says, her voice trembling with manufactured hurt. "I know I can play this lead perfectly and outshine the A-listers. I only suggested the clothes because you're the lead stylist for this show. I want your work to get more screen time. If someone with Kent's basic skills can get praised online, I know your designs will captivate everyone even more."
Jade knows exactly how to manipulate her brothers, especially Alec. She knows he has been harboring doubts about her since the modeling competition fiasco. She has spent weeks buttering him up, feeding him sweet words, and playing the adoring sister. Looking up at him with total worship and reliance, she instantly melts his resolve.
