The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 238

But this guy? Evan walks around with an ego the size of the moon, acting like he is the last man on earth.

"You deserve that slap for walking out on the engagement party without a word," Tara states coldly.

She steps forward and delivers a brutal kick, sending him flying.

"Ugh!" Evan crashes hard onto his rear. His landing is far less graceful than Jake's, who at least had the luxury of a sofa.

"Listen closely, Evan," Tara commands, towering over him. "I was absolutely thrilled when you left that party. Don't flatter yourself by thinking I was angry or heartbroken. This kick is a warning. Stop pestering me. You are completely out of my league now. Got it?"

There is nothing quite as satisfying as seeing an arrogant ex wallowing in misery. Watching him sprawl on the floor while she gazes down like a queen feels incredibly liberating.

"By the way," she adds with a smirk, "only someone with zero taste and an empty head like Jade would obsess over you and make you feel important. Compared to a pathetic joke like you, Danny is a thousand, a million times better. So do us all a favor—stop obsessing over me and just tie yourself to Jade."

Human nature is inherently perverse. The more she blesses his toxic relationship with Jade, the more Evan rejects it. He now despises Jade and wants nothing more than to distance himself from her, terrified that Tara might misunderstand his intentions.

Yet here is Tara, publicly praising another man as a million times better than him! Nothing strikes a more lethal blow to his ego. Evan trembles, so furious he sees red.
