The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 29

Chapter 29

Chapter 29

Ten agonizing minutes later, the emergency medical team finally breaches the treeline. By the time they assess the cameraman, Tara has already stabilized him.

The lead paramedic checks the wound and looks up in sheer disbelief. “This is textbook trauma care. You bought him the critical time he needed to survive.”

The entire production crew stares at Tara, their previous judgments completely erased, replaced by deep, unshakeable respect.

Jade grinds her teeth so hard her jaw aches. How did she not know Tara possessed these terrifying skills? When Tara lived at the Dennis estate, she was a quiet, unremarkable nobody who was effortlessly bullied into submission. How did cutting ties with the family suddenly turn her into this unstoppable force?

Given the high risk of a hidden snake nest in the dense brush, and with their foraging quota already met, the director wisely calls for an immediate evacuation back to the village.

As they hike down, Tara pulls a heavy pouch of yellow powder from her bag and methodically sprinkles it along their exit path.

The director watches her nervously. “Tara, what exactly is that?”

“Realgar powder. It repels snakes,” she answers without breaking her stride. “Snakes are defensive predators. If we secure the perimeter, they won’t strike.”

Tina’s jaw practically hits the dirt. “You packed snake repellent for a reality show?”

Tara glances back with a bored expression. “It’s basic wilderness survival.”

Ana lets out a breathless laugh, throwing up a thumbs-up. “You are an absolute legend. Seriously.”

The industry veterans are completely humbled. When they first saw the cast list, they were furious that a D-list nobody was riding their coattails for clout. Now, they realize Tara is the only reason they are surviving this nightmare.

The internet is obsessed:

“Who exactly is Tara?! Elite medical skills, survival tactics, snake repelling… what can’t she do?”

“I thought the Dennis family said she was a useless burden? She’s basically a superhero!”

“I’m officially a hardcore Tara fan! She’s amazing!”

Jade’s face is so dark with fury she looks practically venomous. It is completely unfair. The entire internet is worshiping Tara, while her own carefully curated persona is being ripped apart and labeled as a manipulative, useless drama queen. Her perfect image is disintegrating in real-time. She digs her nails into her skin. She has to find a way to destroy Tara and take back the spotlight.

The exhausted crew finally returns to the farmhouse at dusk. After a quick, chaotic dinner, the director grants them an hour of unrecorded free time.

Jade immediately storms into the makeshift dressing room, slamming the door shut. Her manager, Vicky, is already inside, pacing like a caged animal.

“Jade! What the hell are you doing out there?!” Vicky hisses, dropping her voice. “The comments are tearing you to shreds! They are calling you fake, incompetent, and a manipulative bitch!”
