The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 302

Nikolai's heart aches as he watches the broadcast. He desperately wants to comfort Jade, to clear her name, but he is trapped behind a screen, utterly helpless.

"This is completely unacceptable. What kind of older brother is Jake?" Deanna fumes, her voice trembling. "Has he lost his mind? Does he even know what he's saying?"

Seeing Jade's helpless, teary-eyed gaze dart toward Jake on the screen makes Deanna want to march down there and slap her eldest son. Jake used to protect his sister at all costs. What the hell is wrong with him today? Unable to bear it any longer, she quickly fires off a text, ordering him to defend Jade.

On the stage, Jake feels his phone buzz. He pulls it out, glancing at his mother's furious message, just as he catches Jade's pathetic, pleading stare.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press," Jake finally speaks, his voice cutting through the chaos. "We will carefully address all the concerns you've raised today. As for Jade's future career path, Dennis Media will cautiously re-evaluate her plans. You don't need to worry about that for now."

"Tara, Loretta, I am truly sorry for the lip-syncing incident and the rumors regarding Evan," Jade says, her voice trembling with manufactured sincerity. "It's all my fault. I was too young and naive. I wanted to be a singer so badly that I blindly followed the company's advice without thinking it through. Having Loretta sing for me was wrong, and I deeply apologize."

Without hesitation, she bows deeply before the two women, maintaining a perfect ninety-degree angle. Her posture is flawless—back straight, head bowed low, projecting the image of a brave, accountable girl taking full responsibility for her mistakes.
