Danny freezes for a split second before a surge of wild joy blooms in his chest. Masking his excitement, he asks smoothly, "You made this for me?"
"Not specifically. I just figured the flavor profile would work. Try it."
She actually took mixology classes in the past. While she isn't a world-class professional, her technique and taste are solid. Tricia and Bianca have both raved about the drinks she mixes for them during their girls' nights.
"Alright. Thank you," Danny says politely. Then, as if suddenly struck by an idea, he adds, "This looks incredible. Let me take a picture first."
He pulls out his phone and snaps at least a dozen photos from every conceivable angle, looking like he is shooting a commercial ad. Finally, he sets his phone down, takes a sip, and smiles warmly. "This is amazing. Way better than anything I've had at those high-end wine tastings."
"Are you exaggerating?" Tara stares at him, convinced he is laying it on a bit thick.
"I'm serious," he insists, his gaze entirely steady.
Tara narrows her eyes in suspicion, but she can't fight the smile pulling at her lips. Whether he is telling the truth or not, the emotional validation is off the charts.
While Tara looks away to reply to a text, Danny does something unprecedented: he posts on his social network. He uploads the photo of Tara's cocktail with a caption: Incredible. Hits right to the heart.
