The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 414

Evan chokes, instantly infuriated by her utter defiance.

"Evan, look at her attitude! Is she doing this because she's jealous that I took her place as your fiancée?" Jade whines, clinging to her fragile victim persona. She feels Evan's response lacks the necessary aggression to defend her honor.

Already pushed to his limit, Evan snaps. His patience evaporates, and he blurts out, "If you think you stole her place, then give it back!"

The moment the words leave his mouth, Evan regrets his impulsive outburst. However, the damage is done. Jade looks as if she has been slapped for a third time. She only wanted him to validate her status, but instead, he practically admitted he still wants Tara. The humiliation hits her like a physical blow. A heavy lump of pure mortification blocks her throat, making it impossible to breathe.

Sitting on the plush velvet couches, Tricia and Bianca erupt into ruthless laughter.

"This is comedy gold! Can you two take your pathetic soap opera somewhere else?" Tricia wipes a tear from her eye.

"Seriously, if you want to break up or keep acting, go hire a director," Bianca adds, waving them off. "We really don't want to waste our time watching you lose your minds."

Suddenly, a strong arm wraps around her waist, pulling her flush against a solid chest. The movement is so swift she barely has time to react. She tenses, ready to fight back, but the familiar, crisp scent of expensive cologne washes over her. Instantly, her muscles relax.

"Who do you think you are? If Tara is leaving with anyone, it's me," a deep, commanding voice echoes through the room.

Danny steps fully into the light. Arriving at the club, he immediately takes in the chaotic scene: a room full of pretty boys, an arrogant ex-fiancé, and a scheming rival. What a lively little gathering.
