"I've been thinking about it, and having Jade join the cast will definitely bring us some serious buzz," Director Alford says, rushing to explain himself before the group can question his sudden change of heart. "In this industry, controversy equals ratings. Your suggestion is actually fantastic. I was just overthinking it a moment ago."
Not forgetting the instructions Danny just gave him, he quickly adds, "Oh, and if any of you have an opening in your schedules, you're more than welcome to join the show. It would be a great way to look out for Jade."
Alec feels a bone-deep terror wash over him at the director's suggestion. Every time he took Jade to a modeling competition or a film set, total disaster struck. If he has to babysit her on a reality show, he just knows it will end badly.
"I don't think that's necessary. Evan can keep an eye on Jade," Alec replies hastily.
Lately, Jade has been whining to her parents about how busy Evan is, complaining that he never has time for her. Capitalizing on this, Deanna specifically approached Lana to get Evan on the show. Lana happily agreed, knowing that national television would not only force the couple to bond but also skyrocket her son's public profile. Since Lana gave the green light, Evan has no choice but to participate. Furthermore, Director Alford is a distant relative of the Jewell family; Evan wouldn't dare disrespect him by refusing.
