The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 518

"Did you say something?" Danny looks up from his phone, catching the tail end of her mutterings. Noticing a flicker of frustration on her face, he asks in concern, "Everything okay?"

"Uh, it's nothing!" Tara blurts out, looking like a deer caught in headlights. "I just said it's time to check out. Bianca and Luke are on their way here. Let's go meet them."

She hurries toward the door as if escaping a crime scene. Since she didn't bring any luggage on this impromptu trip, leaving is completely hassle-free. Danny is equally unburdened, falling into step beside her as they head down to the ground-floor lobby.

As they approach the front desk, a loud commotion spills over from the inn's entrance. Somebody is causing a scene.

Tara hands the room key to the terrified innkeeper. Just as the checkout is finalized, a sharp, unpleasantly familiar voice echoes through the lobby.

"Simon, that's her! That's the bitch who tied me to a tree and stole my car!"

It is Eric, the predatory local who pretended to be a good Samaritan yesterday before trying to assault her on the mountain road.

"You've got some nerve, little girl," sneers an older, grittier-looking man standing beside Eric. The resemblance is undeniable. This is Simon, the older brother. "You think you can steal from us and bully my family? Our village might be remote, but do you think you can just walk in here and do whatever you want? Do you have any idea who I am?"

"No," Tara says calmly, scratching her ear with blatant disinterest. "And I really don't care."

Her absolute defiance makes the brothers turn purple with rage. To her, they are nothing more than insignificant pests.
