"Forcing them to destroy their own painstakingly cultivated life's work is definitely a win," Tara muses. Those illegal crops required massive investments of time and money. They would never expect such a remote, middle-of-nowhere village to be discovered by accident. An operation of that scale couldn't have been orchestrated by Jovani or Garrison alone; there has to be a much bigger boss pulling the strings behind the scenes. Bringing that shadow figure one step closer to the light brings Tara a deep sense of satisfaction.
With the illicit crops uprooted and destroyed, the local village thugs lost their backing and their leverage. Left with no choice, they surrendered and signed the paperwork, allowing Luke to seamlessly secure the Blackwood Creek resort development project. Those thugs aren't just out of a job; their previous crimes landed them straight in a jail cell.
"Keep following the breadcrumbs," Tara instructs Joey over the phone. "We're bound to dig up a bigger scandal." Taking down this entire syndicate won't be easy, but destroying Jovani right now would be too simple. The game requires patience; she needs to cast a long line to catch the biggest fish.
The day of The National Scientific Symposium arrives. Danny picks her up right on schedule. When she steps outside, his eyes light up.
"You look great today," he says, catching himself before dropping a cliché line about how beautiful she is.
