The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 637

At Tara's question, the bright joy vanishes from Gavin's face, the color draining from his cheeks in an instant.

He shakes his head violently, his hands trembling as he signs, "No. Nothing like that happens."

"Are you absolutely sure?" Tara presses gently. "You can tell me. I swear I'll keep it a secret. I won't tell anyone, and I will protect you."

He is just a child, and his terrified reaction screams that he is hiding something.

"N-no. Nothing, I promise," Gavin suddenly blurts out, his voice a soft, clean whisper.

He is so terrified she won't believe his signing that he actually speaks.

He knows he can never tell the truth. Those people had explicitly warned him. They told him they were the ones who murdered his parents. If he breathed a word of what they did to him, they promised to kill the people he loved most.

Gavin had overheard his grandmother and aunt secretly investigating his parents' accident. Even at his young age, he understands his parents didn't just die by chance. He refuses to put his family—or this pretty lady—in the crosshairs of those monsters. So, even if it kills him, he will never speak a word of it.

"Alright. I understand," Tara says softly, backing off.

He can speak perfectly well. He understands everything. Yet he is too terrified to tell the truth. He is undeniably being threatened.

"Hey, brat," Danny suddenly cuts in, shattering the heavy tension. "I'm thirsty, and I'm starving. Go fetch me some real food and drinks, or I'm taking she home."
