The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 653

Tara's heart twists with a fierce protectiveness. The people who lied to Gavin were simply exploiting his youth and vulnerability, bullying a helpless child for their own gain. The most likely reason they wanted to keep his eyes unhidden was to ensure everyone stared at him like he was a freak.

They wanted him to be mocked, shunned, and treated as an outcast to heavy his psychological burden. It was a calculated move to keep him permanently isolated, locked away in his own silent world where no one could ever reach him.

Too bad for them, they ran into Tara. Their sick little game ends now.

Moments later, Katie comes back downstairs in a casual, chic outfit, and Danny takes the wheel of his luxury SUV.

"Gavin and I will take the back," Katie announces breezily, flashing a knowing smile. "My son's passenger seat is exclusively reserved for Tara."

She isn't even trying to be subtle anymore. The implication practically stamps a giant 'Taken' sign on Danny's forehead.

Danny glances over, noting that Tara doesn't object or show the slightest hint of annoyance. His chest tightens with a surge of deep satisfaction. Just a little more effort, and he might finally lock down an official status as her boyfriend.

The four of them arrive at a bustling, lively farmers' market—the exact one Katie discovered recently. Though it's quite a drive from their affluent neighborhood and lacks the polished marble floors of a high-end grocery store, it makes up for it in vibrant, working-class charm.

The vendors here are notoriously friendly. Stand at a stall long enough, and the local aunties will gossip about everything from the latest neighborhood scandal to recipes passed down since the seventies. Katie absolutely loves the vibrant energy of the place.

More importantly, she brought her future daughter-in-law here to publicly flex that her son is definitely not part of the city's growing anti-marriage demographic.

"Oh my goodness, it's been a minute since we saw you!" a cheerful vendor calls out the moment Katie steps out of the car. "Did you bring your son, daughter-in-law, and little grandbaby this time?"

"Lord above, what a gorgeous family!" another woman gasps, wiping her hands on her apron. "I thought a movie crew just rolled in!"
