The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 676

Julianna is already nursing a massive headache, and Bonnie's screeching makes it infinitely worse. The household staff lingering nearby hear every word of the humiliating rant.

Unable to maintain her usual poised facade, Julianna's face darkens. "We ended our arrangement a long time ago. What they do is none of my business."

"I am Julianna Sinclair. I don't need Danny Calhoun to find a good man. Stop bringing this up!" she snaps, utterly repulsed by Bonnie's dramatic wailing. Bonnie acts as if Julianna's life is over just because a man moved on.

Bonnie shrinks back, startled by the venom in her cousin's voice. She rarely sees Julianna lose her temper like this.

"Of course not! You're amazing, Julianna," Bonnie stammers, scrambling to backtrack. "Even if Danny wanted you, he'd be punching above his weight! You can have any man you want!"

Julianna pinches the bridge of her nose in exasperation. She is surrounded by idiots. Bonnie's attempt at flattery is utterly pathetic. What does she mean, 'even if Danny wanted her'? It makes it sound like she was dumped!

Julianna refuses to accept that she was cast aside; as far as she is concerned, the engagement was dissolved mutually. Even though her chest tightens with bitter resentment, she refuses to let anyone see her bleed. She forces herself to project an aura of effortless indifference.
