These men spent decades building the empire alongside Charles and the late patriarch Cian. Being suddenly dominated by an unknown woman leaves a bitter taste in their mouths.
Joseph, a silver-haired board member, finally snaps. "Ms. Jovani, you might have the shares, but this company was built by the blood and sweat of us veterans and the Dennis patriarch. You waltzing in here and claiming total control is a bit much, don't you think?"
He is fiercely loyal to the old guard and desperately wants a true Dennis heir to lead the company, rather than some random usurper.
"A bit much?" Jovani cuts him off, her gaze turning lethal. "Am I moving too fast for you? Or am I just not giving you the respect you think you deserve? Joseph, I know you've been here forever, but business is business. It runs on power and rules. Right now, I have the equity. I have the voting rights. That is the only rule that matters. Are you planning to defy a formal shareholder resolution?"
Joseph chokes on his words, his face flushing with anger before draining of color. The other executives who wanted to speak up immediately snap their mouths shut. The smaller shareholders wouldn't dare challenge her; they nervously glance toward Nathaniel. To them, Nathaniel is the most respected voice in the room. They follow his lead on everything.
But right now, Nathaniel sits in total silence, making it impossible to tell whose side he is on. They assume he is waiting for Tara to arrive so they can execute a plan together. The room waits with bated breath, whispering amongst themselves.
