Both managers look at Bianca with eager, ingratiating smiles, clearly ready to jump through hoops for her. They aren't just kissing up to a superior; there is a genuine, active interest in their eyes. Given that this retreat is mostly filled with young, single professionals looking to mingle, it is obvious they are trying to shoot their shot.
"Uh, thanks," Bianca replies with an awkward, forced laugh. The last thing she wants is to entertain them. Her sights are set exclusively on one person.
"See?" Coen finally breaks his silence, his voice dripping with dry amusement. "With so many eager gentlemen fighting for your attention, Ms. Turner, how could you possibly be bored?"
Bianca glares at him, infuriated by his dismissive tone. This infuriating man is pushing every single one of her buttons. She refuses to believe she can't crack his stoic exterior. Challenge accepted.
Just as the atmosphere begins to stiffen again, Danny walks over to join them. Tara looks up, genuinely surprised. "You finished the tent already? That was fast."
She has barely been sitting down long enough to even think about grabbing a skewer, and he has already set up their entire campsite.
"I have a lot of outdoor survival experience," Danny says casually, taking a seat beside her as if it is nothing. "Pitching a tent is pretty basic."
He doesn't mention that growing up as the heir to the Calhoun family made him a prime target for rival families and kidnappers. To ensure his survival, his grandfather had sent him into extreme combat and wilderness training from a very young age. Building a luxury campsite is child's play compared to special ops regimens.
"Fair enough," Tara concedes, accepting that she is a complete amateur compared to him.
