"But how do you plan on getting your foot in the door at the Sinclair estate?" Jovani asks, raising a brow.
"It's simple," Jade replies with a dismissive wave of her hand. "Bonnie is a naive idiot, and we're actually on good terms. I can use her as my way in. Plus, that fool hates Tara just as much as we do. Having a common enemy makes her incredibly easy to manipulate." Jade prides herself on her innate talent for scheming; she knows exactly how to play people like a fiddle.
"Perfect. Start with her, then," Jovani praises with a proud smile. "You've really grown up so much."
Basking in her mother's approval, Jade attempts a triumphant smile, only to hiss in pain as the movement pulls at the raw cuts on her lips. "Ugh, it hurts! I bet that bitch Tara hired someone to jump me. I insulted her earlier today, and since she couldn't outsmart me, she must have held a grudge." Considering she also tried to set Tara up in the private locker room, retaliation seems entirely plausible.
"Knowing Tara, she doesn't seem like the type to pull a cheap stunt like this," Jovani muses, frowning slightly. If it were Tara, it would be manageable. If it is someone else, things are far more complicated. Being in the light while your enemies hide in the dark is a terrifying position. "Anyway, drop this for now. Securing your place in the Sinclair family is our top priority."
Jovani is burning with impatience to move into the estate and solidify her life with Gregory. Lately, she has been feeling physically off—small, nagging ailments stacking up one after another. A dark fear lingers in the back of her mind that these might be side effects from the genetic modifications, but she refuses to entertain the thought. Right now, her only goal is to legally become Mrs. Sinclair.
