The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 853

After chatting and sharing a few drinks, the three brothers tactfully excuse themselves. Given their strained relationship with their sister, they know they have no right to overstay their welcome. Beyond brown-nosing Danny, the only thing left to do is prove themselves through time and action.

The lounge falls quiet again. Danny stares at the barely touched glasses on the table, his gaze thoughtful. He walks over to the window, watching the brothers' hurried retreat, a cryptic smirk playing on his lips. Though these three have always been impulsive and lacking in the brains department, their desperate scramble to fix things doesn't seem fake. It's just a shame they realized their mistakes so late. Sometimes, learning a lesson requires paying a heavy price.

With the brothers gone, Danny and his friends settle back in to enjoy their drinks.

"Man, I never thought I'd see the day," Luke says, clicking his tongue. "They used to act so high and mighty, completely untouchable. Now they're practically bowing and scraping. Looks like they've even managed to butter up their future brother-in-law. Guess they really do have some sincerity."

Having watched the whole spectacle in silence, Luke is genuinely surprised by the drastic change in the brothers' attitudes. He initially thought they were here to start a fight.

"Hmph." Coen, who has also been quietly observing, lets out a scoff. He shoots Danny a sidelong, slightly smug look, as if to say, 'You're such a whipped husband, planning everything out for your wife.'

Danny easily catches the meaning behind the look and breaks into a grin. His smile grows wider and more triumphant by the second, leaving Coen utterly baffled.

"What the hell are you smiling at?" Coen asks, finding the grin a little creepy.
