Sunlight crept through the curtains, spilling gold across the soft furs of my bed.

My head throbbed from the long night… the party, the noise, the shouts, the humiliation. My body ached in places I didn’t even know could ache. And, of course, the memory of Kaelen, smirking, teasing, standing so close, lingered like a shadow I couldn’t shake.

I tried to ignore it. I told myself I hated him. I really did.

The knock came just as I stretched and tried to convince myself I could get another hour of

rest.

“Ma’am?” A soft voice called.

I blinked and saw Talia standing at the door, holding a small bundle of black fabric. Her warm eyes met mine.

“The Alpha wants you,” she said gently. “Dressed. At the training ground. Immediately.”

I groaned and flopped back onto the bed.

“Immediately?” I muttered, voice rough. “Can’t he… wait five minutes?”

Talia shook her head, smiling faintly. “Nope. You know Kaelen. He’s not patient.”

I sat up, rubbing my eyes. “I’m not ready,” I mumbled.

“You’ll never be ready,” she said with a small laugh. “But you’ll do fine. Here.” She held out the black bundle. “This is your training outfit. It’s light, flexible. You’ll need it for… everything he wants to teach you.”

I took it reluctantly.

My fingers brushed the smooth fabric, and I couldn’t help but notice how it clung in all the right places.

My cheeks warmed.

I shook my head. Don’t think about that. He’s cruel. He’s selfish. He’s…Stunning

That’s not the point.

I stripped off the nightgown I had slept in, feeling the cool morning air against my skin.

My hands fumbled as I pulled the training dress on. It was short, ending just above my thighs, and fit snugly across my chest. I tugged at it, trying to make it less revealing, but it refused.

“Well…” Talia said quietly, sensing my discomfort. “You look… ok.”

I didn’t answer.

Talia helped me adjust the straps, smoothing the fabric. “Alpha will expect you to move fast. Don’t fall behind. Don’t make mistakes. And dont let your temper get the better of you.”

I narrowed my eyes. “You sound like you’re warning me.”

She chuckled softly. “I am. You’ll need every bit of caution you can get. And maybe a bit of luck.”

I swallowed and tried to steady my nerves. Training. With Kaelen. Alone.

I followed Talia down the stone corridor, each step echoing off the walls.

The castle was already alive with activity. Pack moved purposefully through the halls, heads down, ears alert. I felt their eyes on me, sensing was new. I could feel the judgment, the curiosity, the silent assessments.

Kaelen’s presence was like a shadow ahead of us, even though he wasn’t there yet. I didn’t know if I wanted to see him or not.

The training ground was enormous… an open space surrounded by tall stone walls.

Weapons racks lined the sides, targets set up at different distances, and a few pack members were already practicing moves. The morning sun glinted off their armor and weapons. The air smelled of leather, metal, and sweat.

And there he was.

Kaelen. Standing in the center, dark coat removed, sleeves rolled up, revealing the long, lean muscles of his arms. His black hair fell in the morning light, eyes sharp and piercing.

The moment I saw him, my heart thumped, and I felt that strange pull again… fear, anger, and something else I couldn’t name.

“Finally awake,” he said, his voice carrying easily across the ground. “I was beginning to think you’d sleep through your first lesson.”

I scowled, crossing my arms. “I didn’t sleep through anything. I’m just… resting. I had no idea. I had a lesson today.”

“Resting?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “You mean hiding from your responsibilities. From me.”

I glared. “I’m not hiding. I just… don’t like mornings.”

He smirked, taking a step toward me. Every step made my stomach twist, made me want to glare harder, made my pulse race faster. “Hmph. Funny. Most omegas like mornings… especially the weak ones who can’t even shift..’

I wanted to punch him. To not be anywhere near him… And yet somehow, I wanted to stay. My body, against my will, betrayed me again.

Kaelen ignored my glare and snapped his fingers “Move.”

I stiffened. “Move?”

“To the center of the ground. Now. You’re going to train, Bunny. And you’re going to follow every instruction without hesitation.”

I swallowed hard and stepped forward, each footfall heavy with reluctance.

Kaelen walked toward me, eyes never leaving mine. “Don’t get nervous,” he said quietly, voice low, teasing. “Nervousness is cute. But it can’t get you killed.”

I clenched my fists at my sides. “I am not nervous!” I said, though my voice betrayed me.

He smirked. “Of course not,” he said softly, leaning closer. “You’re furious. Always furious. That works too.”

I glared at him, chest tight, cheeks burning. “Why do I have a feeling I am not going to like this?”

“You’re gonna love it,” he said, a smirk curling over his lips. “… you don’t know it yet, but you do.”
