THE SPITEFUL BRIDE: Marry To Rival's Son novel Chapter 154

WILL YOU MARRY ME, ETHAN MEYER?

Chapter 154

“I was beginning to think you wouldn’t acknowledge my existence,” Mia joked. “Now take her out of here before she faints from hunger. She’s been excited about this all day.”

Ethan smiled and squeezed Elena’s hand. “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her.”

Elena and Ethan walked out hand in hand, leaving the others behind in the living room.

Ethan took Elena to one of the most exclusive restaurants in the city. It was the kind of place that required reservations months in advance, but somehow Ethan had managed to secure the entire top floor just for them.

When Elena stepped out of the elevator, she gasped audibly. The entire floor had been transformed into something magical.

Red roses were everywhere – in tall vases, scattered on tables, even forming a path to their table. The overhead lights had been dimmed, and the space was illuminated entirely by scented candles that cast a warm, romantic glow over everything.

“This is incredible,” Elena breathed, turning around slowly to take it all in.

“I’m glad you like it,” Ethan said, watching her reaction carefully.

“Like it? Ethan, I love it. This is the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me.” She threw her arms around him in a tight hug, overwhelmed by the effort he had put into making this night special.

They walked hand in hand to their table, which was positioned perfectly to overlook the city lights below.

“So tell me about your vacation,” Ethan said once they were seated and had ordered wine. “How did you spend your time?”

“It was exactly what I needed,” Elena said, her eyes bright as she remembered. “I spent a lot of time hiking and reading. I did some yoga on the beach every morning.

I even tried meditation, which was harder than I expected. But mostly, I just allowed myself to think and feel without any pressure or expectations.”

“And how do you feel now? Different?”

Elena considered the question seriously. “Yes, I do feel different. Lighter somehow. Like I was carrying around this heavy backpack full of rocks, and I finally figured out how to put it down.”

Ethan smiled at the metaphor. “I’m glad. You seem more… yourself tonight. More like the Elena I fell in love with.”

“Speaking of falling in love,” Elena said, leaning forward with curiosity, “you never finished answering my question earlier. How long did you wait for me? What did you mean when you said ‘months’?”

Ethan had mistakenly leaked the fact that he’d loved her for a long time, during one of their calls when she was still on vacation.

He’d been dodging the question, but she’ll make sure he answers her this night.

Ethan’s smile became slightly embarrassed. “I don’t think you really want to know the answer to that.”

“I do want to know,” Elena insisted. “Tell me. When did you first start having feelings for me?”

Ethan looked down at his wine glass and spoke quickly, mumbling his words.

“I didn’t hear you,” Elena said. “Say it slower.”

“The day you were nearly kidnapped,” Ethan repeated more clearly.

Elena’s eyes widened in shock. “At Mia and Stefan’s engagement party?”

Ethan nodded, looking slightly uncomfortable.

“Wait,” Elena said, blinking rapidly as she processed this information. “You were there that night? I had no idea.

“You didn’t know?” Ethan looked surprised.

“I had no idea. I never asked about the details. I always thought Mose was the only one involved in saving me.”

“He was the one who actually saved you,” Ethan clarified quickly. “I just provided the car he used to get to you.”

Elena sat back in her chair, genuinely shocked by this revelation. That night at the engagement party felt like a lifetime ago.

It was after that night and that incident that, she had first allowed herself to truly see Mose as more than just Stefan’s intimidating friend. She had developed real feelings for him because he had risked his life to save hers.

But now, learning that Ethan had been involved in her rescue too, that felt significant somehow. It was like discovering a missing piece of a puzzle she didn’t even know was incomplete.

“You’ve had feelings for me for that long?” she asked quietly.

“Longer, actually,” Ethan admitted. “But that was the night I realized I was falling in love with you. When I carried you to my car and placed you there, you looked so innocent that I wanted to protect you, even with my

life.”

Elena felt tears starting to form in her eyes. “Ethan…… Why didn’t you ever say anything?”

“Because you were in love with someone else,” Ethan said simply. “And you also hated my guts, remember. It took some time before you stopped suspecting me. And I wasn’t going to interfere with your happiness, even if it meant I could never have what I wanted.”

“That must have been torture,” Elena whispered. “Watching me with him, knowing how you felt.”

“It was,” Ethan agreed. “But it was also worth it, because it led us here. To this moment.
