THE SPITEFUL BRIDE: Marry To Rival's Son novel Chapter 162

Chapter 162

“I need to go freshen up,” Elena said, heading toward the stairs. She was determined not to let this situation make her cry or feel sorry for herself.

She was innocent. There was no reason to be sad or defeated. Everything would work out in the end.

She walked into her bedroom and slowly removed what should have been her wedding dress. The beautiful white fabric now felt heavy and cursed. She would probably never be able to look at this dress again without remembering this terrible day.

She dropped the dress on the floor and walked naked into her bathroom, turning on the shower and letting the hot water wash over her.

As she stood under the spray, Elena allowed herself to think about what had happened. She had never imagined her wedding day going like this. This morning, she had been so happy, so excited about starting her new life as Mrs. Elena Meyer.

Now she wasn’t even sure if Ethan still wanted to marry her. She wasn’t sure he would want to have anything to do with the woman who was suspected of killing his mother.

And honestly, Elena would understand if he decided to walk away from her. This situation was too much for anyone to handle. She was tired of all the stress and drama that seemed to follow her everywhere.

She stayed in the shower for over an hour, letting the hot water run over her skin while she tried to process everything that had happened.

Finally, Mia knocked on her bathroom door.

“Elena? Would you like to come with us to the Meyer house. There’s going to be a gathering there for Cassandra, and I thinks it might be good for you to be there for Ethan.”

Elena didn’t feel like going anywhere, especially not to a house where she would be surrounded by people who thought she was a murderer. But she wanted to be there for Ethan if he needed her.

“Okay,” She called back. “I’ll be ready in a few minutes.”

She got out of the shower and dried off, then went to her closet to find something appropriate to wear. She chose a black blouse and black pants, knowing that everyone would be dressed for mourning.

When she came downstairs, her mother was waiting for her in the living room. She immediately stood up and wrapped Elena in a tight hug.

“Mija, everything is going to be okay,” her mother whispered in Spanish. “You’re innocent, and the truth will come out. I believe in you.”

Elena felt tears threaten to fall, but she blinked them back. “Thank you, Mom. I love you.”

Looking around the living room, Elena noticed that everyone was dressed in black clothing. Stefan, Mia, James, and Sienna all looked somber and ready to pay their respects to Cassandra.

They divided into two cars for the drive to the Meyer house. Elena rode with Stefan and Mia, while James drove Elena’s mother and Sienna in the other car.

During the drive, Mia held Elena’s hand and kept reassuring her that everything would be okay.

“Ethan loves you,” Mia said softly. “He’s just in shock right now. Once he has time to process everything, he’ll realize that you could never do something like this.”

Elena hoped Mia was right, but she wasn’t so sure.

When they arrived at the Meyer house, Elena was shocked by how many people were there. Cars lined the street, and she could see groups of people in black clothing walking toward the front door.

As they approached the house, Elena felt her stomach tighten with nervousness. She wasn’t sure she was ready to face all these people who probably thought she was a killer.

But as they reached the front steps, two large security guards stepped in front of Elena and her mother.

“I’m sorry, ma’am, but you’re not allowed to enter,” one of the guards said politely but firmly. “We have direct orders from Mr. Ethan Meyer that you’re not permitted on the property.”

Elena felt like she had been slapped in the face. Ethan had specifically banned her from coming to his mother’s memorial gathering.

Mia immediately stepped forward, her face flushing with anger.

“What do you mean she can’t come in?” Mia demanded. “She’s family!”

“I’m sorry, ma’am, but we have our orders,” the guard repeated.

Elena gently touched Mia’s arm to stop her from making a scene.

“It’s okay,” She said quietly. “Mom and I will wait in the car.”

“No, this isn’t okay!” Mia protested. “I’m not going in there if you can’t come with me!”

“Mia, please,” Elena said firmly. “Ethan is your brother, and Samuel is your father-in-law. They’re both mourning someone who was important to them. You need to be there for them right now. I’m not the priority here.”

Mia felt her heart break a little at Elena’s words, but she knew her friend was right. This wasn’t the time or place to cause family drama.

“Fine,” Mia said reluctantly. “But I’m not staying long.”

She put on her sunglasses to hide her obvious annoyance and hurt as she walked toward the house with Stefan.

Why would Ethan do something like this? Mia thought angrily. How can he treat someone he was supposed to marry this morning like she’s a stranger? This is so unfair to Elena, and it’s unfair to him too.

Elena and her mother walked back to the car and sat in the back seat together. Elena’s mother held her hand and
