Chapter 49
She grabbed her phone, opened one of the headlines, and slowly moved it to his face.
“BREAKING: Mia Meyer Marries Stefan Sterling in Secret-Now Pregnant!”
His
this.
eyes darted back and forth, reading. He blinked, rubbed his face, then sat up slowly, still not believing all
“What… what is this?” he asked, voice low and deadly. You could feel his annoyance from his voice.
“It’s……all over the Internet. Everyone is talking about it” She opened another and showed to him.
“Julian Thorn Left Stunned-p**n Star Exit Leaves Billionaire in Chaos!” This caught his attention, what do they mean by P**n Star?
“Mia Meyer and Stefan Sterling Confirms Marriage!” She opened another one, but he took the phone from her, still trying to grasp what exactly was going on. He scrolled up looking for the news about Julian.
“Julian Thorn Dumped By His P**n Star girlfriend” he scrolled again.
“Julian Thorn caught In a Hotel Room with International P**n Star – Mia Legra”
“Is this some kind of joke?”
“I was at the salon when I heard. Tried calling you, but your phone’s been off all morning.”
“I don’t understand,” he muttered, to himself. “How did this happen? She was supposed to be with…..she was …” He trailed off, as if words had suddenly failed him.
“She was with Stefan at the hotel, they came out together from a room. They announced that they were legally married and were expecting a baby.” Cassandra said quietly. “This wasn’t an accident, I’m sure she played them all. And now the entire country knows.”
“Mia Sterling,” he whispered. “Pregnant.” Then louder, disbelief in every word: “She married Stefan Sterling.”
Cassandra sat beside him. “And she didn’t take your permission. I told you, that daughter of yours, was up to no good” He didn’t even pay her attention, because his head was filled up.
Cassandra sighed. “You should see the footage. The way Stefan announced it. The way he carried her like she was royalty. The media’s eating it up.”
Samuel dropped her phone before picking up his from the nightstand, and turned it on quickly. The moment he powered his phone, it buzzed violently in his palm. Notifications came flooding in, one after the other, missed calls, text messages, emails, álerts from the stock market app blinking red.

Headline Alert: MIA MEYER STERLING
For once in years, he didn’t know where to begin. The chaos was pouring in faster. He had underestimated her, maybe a little. 1
“Leave,” he said coldly without looking at Cassandra, his voice tight and dangerously calm.
She opened her mouth, maybe to argue, but then she saw the look on his face.
His jaw was clenched. His eyes, cold and unreadable. That was the look that ended arguments before they started. So she nodded quickly and walked out without another word, her heels clicking softly against the tiles.
As the door clicked shut, Samuel stood alone with the storm now pounding inside his head.
The first thing he did was open his stock app.
Red.
Everywhere.
The company’s value had dropped nearly 12% overnight. Just like that.
His hand trembled slightly as he scrolled through the alerts, eyes darting through one damning update after another.
Then he saw a message from an anonymous number. Hesitating for only a second, he opened it.
“The guys we hired turned out to be Mose’s men. We didn’t know they were already working for Sterling. We were compromised.”

After what felt like forever, he erupted, flinging the phone across the room. It smashed against the wall, the screen shattering on impact and scattering in pieces across the floor.
What in the name of incompetence is going on, this is one of the silliest excuse he’s ever heard. And they all will pay for this. Weren’t they aware they were supposed to do a thorough background check.
He’d make sure they don’t live to see the next day, no one does this a walk unscathed.
Still breathing heavily, he walked over to his desk and grabbed his tablet, fingers shaking as he pulled up his messages.
One from his assistant blinked at the top of the inbox. He clicked it.
Sir, I’ve been trying to reach you. We have a problem, a big one.
The investors are withdrawing from our ongoing project, almost all of them. It’s hit our stock hard.
Also… Daniel Thorn is talking to his legal team. He’s threatening to sue for breach of contract.
Samuel stared at the message, his chest rising and falling with controlled rage.

This wasn’t just a PR mess.
Mia hadn’t just embarrassed him, she’d destroyed months of planning, funding, negotiations. She’d flipped the board, the media, and now even the Thorn family against him.
And she’d done it with Sterling name, those damn people. They wouldn’t leave him alone, they’re the cause of
all this.
He leaned back against the desk, hands planted behind him, and exhaled slowly.
So this was how it felt… to be played by your own child.
He dialed a number, and placed the phone on his ear. “Set up a board meeting as soon as possible” he said immediately the call connected, and that was all he said before ending the call.
The moment Mia and Stefan stepped through the front door, Elena came rushing down the hallway like a storm.
“Mia!” she called out, her voice already breaking with emotion.
Before Mia could even take a full step in, Elena had pulled her into a tight, almost desperate hug. Her arms wrapped around her like she was afraid she might disappear again.
Mia’s body tensed at first, surprised, but then she softened and hugged her back, burying her face in Elena’s
shoulder.
“I thought…..” Elena choked, pulling back just enough to look at her. “God, I thought something had happened to you.”
Her eyes were red and puffy from crying. She had fallen asleep that way, curled up with her phone beside her, tear-streaked cheeks on the pillow. The fear had followed her into her dreams, and when she woke up, it was the first thing she checked. If they were any news updates or reports on the Internet. Hoping, praying for any sign of Mia.
But what she saw left her speechless.
