Chapter 98
Stefan stared at Mia, a small smirk playing at the edge of his lips. Without a word, he stepped closer and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
Mia closed her eyes briefly, letting the warmth of it settle. Her smile deepened, but she didn’t say anything.
Elena squinted at them from the other side of the room.
“Okay… no, hold on,” she said, standing up and pointing between them. “Am I missing something here, again?”
She looked from Stefan to Mia, then back again. “What’s going on? What is this?”
Stefan didn’t respond. Instead, he walked over to Mia and bent down.
Mia looked at him with a raised brow, what was he doing.
“What are you doing?” Elena asked, eyes wide.
“Mia needs rest,” Stefan said calmly, as if that explained everything.
And before anyone could process it, he swept her off the couch in one smooth motion…. bridal style.
“Stefan!” Mia laughed quietly, instinctively wrapping her arms around his neck.
Elena gasped. “Oh my God.”
She rushed to his side, leaning in close to where Mia’s head rested against his chest. “Mia, what are you not telling me? What happened during the honeymoon”
Mia didn’t say a word. She just blushed and buried her face deeper into Stefan’s chest, lips fighting a grin. She didn’t have the strength to explain things to Elena for now.
“Oh, don’t you dare hide your face now!” Elena complained “And why is he taking you to his room? Won’t you tell me anything? Mia, I swear…..”
Mia’s body shook with quiet laughter, still hiding.
That’s when Stefan gave Mose a look.
Mose sighed like a man who knew what was coming, stood up, and gently grabbed Elena by the waist.
“Time to let the married couple talk,” he said with a grin.
“Hey! Let me go! I’m not done!” Elena yelped, her legs kicking slightly as Mose carried her off. “Mia, how dare you hide the tea from me! I need the tea!”
Mia finally burst into laughter, her face still pressed against Stefan.
This…. this was the kind of chaos she loves receiving from Elena. And she’d missed it. Honestly? She expected nothing less from her.
Stefan pushed the bedroom door open with his shoulder, carrying Mia in his arms like she weighed nothing. The room was quiet, dim, and welcoming…. the kind of quiet that wraps around you like a blanket after a long day.
He walked straight to the bed and gently lowered her down onto the mattress. Mia blinked up at him, her lashes fluttering from exhaustion.
“Why did you bring me here?” she murmured, her voice soft, almost sleepy. The weight of the past few hours now

pressing on her.
Stefan sat on the edge beside her, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. “Because you need rest,” he said.
“But we have something more important,” she tried to protest, lifting her hand slightly, then letting it drop. “A pressing issue.”
He shook his head slowly, a quiet smile tugging at his lips. It’s not that pressing. I promise. We’ll have it under control.”
She frowned faintly.
“Tomorrow,” he added, his hand moving gently to her waist as he slipped under the covers beside her. “We’ll visit some top enterprises. Handle everything. But right now, sleep.”
He pulled her into his chest, wrapping an arm around her like he was afraid she’d get up if he let go.
Mia wanted to argue. She really did. But her body betrayed her…. her limbs heavy, her mind fuzzy, her eyes already drifting shut.
She sank into him, the scent of his skin calming her faster than any lullaby. Within seconds, her breathing evened
out.
Stefan looked down at her, still holding her close. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head and whispered against her hair.
“You’re safe. We’ve got this.”
And with that, he closed his eyes too, letting the quiet finally settle.
The next morning, Mia woke to soft sunlight spilling through the curtains. She blinked a few times, then sat up slowly, her hand reaching out instinctively…. but Stefan wasn’t there, as usual. The bed beside her was cold.
She got up, freshened up, and slipped into something simple and comfortable. Her body still felt light, like it was floating after everything from yesterday.
When she came downstairs, she heard quiet voices.
Stefan and Mose were sitting in the living room, focused on a laptop. They were talking in low tones, looking like they were already knee-deep in work.
As soon as Stefan heard her steps, he looked up and smiled. Just a small smile, but it was warm. Familiar. Then he went back to what he was doing.
Before Mia could say anything, Elena’s voice echoed behind her.
“Are you guys ready? Because I’m starving,” she said, walking in like she owned the day… already dressed and glowing.
She didn’t wait for a reply before heading to the dining table, where breakfast was already laid out.
Mia shook her head with a small laugh and followed her. Stefan and Mose stood and came along too, quietly falling into step beside her.
After breakfast, everyone moved to the living room. The energy changed now…. plates were gone, phones, notepads, and laptops were out. It was time to get serious.
and now
Mia sat beside Stefan, her legs curled up under her. Elena was across from them, with Mose close by, already checking something on his tablet.
“We need to stay quiet,” Mia said, her tone calm but firm. “No press. No interviews. If anyone asks about the

contract, we say nothing.”
“Not even a post,” Stefan added. “We keep everything casul. Like nothing big happened.”
“We’ll post on our stories,” Mia nodded. “Normal stuff. A little fun, travel… just to keep up appearances.”
Elena tilted her head. “Won’t that seem like we’re hiding something?”
“That’s the point,” Mia said. “Let them guess. The less they know, the better.”
Stefan leaned forward. “What we do need is to quickly sign he partnership agreement, from the U.S. Base…. to keep things moving.”
“I can handle that,” Elena jumped in. “I know a few people we can approach.”
“You’ll need help,” Mia said, glancing at Mose.
“I’m already in,” he replied with a small smile.
They all nodded, but after that, the room got quiet.
Elena looked between Mia and Stefan. “Okay, what’s going on? Why are you both suddenly quiet?”
Mia and Stefan glanced at each other, then answered at the same time.
“It’ll look suspicious.”
Elena blinked. “What will?” Stefan motioned for Mia to explain.
“If you and Mose travel out of the country right now, Samuel and Jeremiah will notice,” Mia said. “They didn’t just rule the business world for years by mouth. They’re smart. They’ll know something’s up.”
“They’ll start digging,” Stefan added. “And we’re not ready for that.”
“But if we leave,” Mia continued, “they’ll try to dig too, but after a while…. they’ll assume we’re just continuing our honeymoon.”
“Especially since the contract is already signed,” Stefan said. “It’ll seem personal, not business.” Elena leaned back, thinking it over. Then she looked at Mia with a soft smile.
“You really were born for this,” she said. “Your dad’s going to regret letting you go.” Mia didn’t say anything. Just smiled a little and tapped her pen.
