THE SPITEFUL BRIDE: Marry To Rival's Son novel Chapter 99

Chapter 99

Mia blinked at Elena, her head tilted in amused disbelief. “Wait, wait. You kissed him? You’re the one who initiated it?”

Elena smirked and shrugged, tossing a pillow onto her lap. Yeah, I did. What? You thought I’d sit around waiting for him to grow a pair?”

Mia laughed, genuinely caught off guard. “You’ve never seized to amaze me.”

“I just go for what I want,” Elena said with a small smile. “Always have.”

Mia looked at her curiously, watching how her expression softened…. less teasing, more real.

“I mean, life’s too short, Mia. You wait around too long, and fear starts making your choices for you. And fear?” Elena shook her head. “Fear won’t save anyone.” Mia sat up a bit straighter, letting Elena’s words sink in.

“If I let fear take over,” Elena went on, “I could miss out on the greatest kind of love I was meant to feel. And if Mose and I don’t work out?” She shrugged again, but this time there was a quiet strength behind it. “Then I’ll still open my heart to someone else. I won’t shut the door because something didn’t go right. That’s not living.”

Mia stared at her for a second, her chest warm. “That’s… actually really brave.”

Elena nudged her gently. “Your turn. You owe me something good.”

Mia hesitated for a moment, then looked down at her hands “Stefan confessed he loves me.”

Elena’s eyes widened, a slow grin spreading across her face. “He did?”

Mia nodded slowly. “They were fireworks and a ‘I love you wife’ boldly written from it”

Elena leaned forward, practically squealing. “For real? I never thought Stefan had it in him” both she and Mia laughed

“So, what did you say back? Did you say it back?” She asked excitedly.

“…Nothing.”

Elena blinked. “You said nothing? Mia!”

Mia groaned, covering her face. “I didn’t know what to say! It just… hit me. He was so calm, so serious. He was looking at me in a kind of way…. a way I hadn’t seen before. So, I froze.”

Elena reached over and tugged her hand down. “Okay, wait. Do you love him?”

Mia looked her in the eye and whispered, “I think I do”

“No. No. No. Do you love Stefan. It’s either Yes or No.”

“Hmmmmm” she took a deep breath letting the words come out. This will be the first time she’ll say something like this. “Yes. Yes, I love Stefan”

Elena’s whole face softened, eyes gleaming with happiness “Then that’s all that matters.”

Mia gave a tiny smile, her voice barely above a whisper. “Yeah. I think it is.”

Elena tilted her head. “So… nothing happened?”

Mia gave a sheepish nod. “Like? We cuddled, we kissed and then slept in each other’s arms.”

Elena stared at her like she couldn’t believe her ears. “You’re so smart when it comes to business, but comes to love… babe, you’re painfully slow.”

Mia let out a small laugh, already knowing where this was going.

“No seriously,” Elena said, crossing her arms dramatically “You can close million-dollar deals in a heartbeat, but when a man literally tells you he loves you…. a fine, rich, not so emotional…. but trying to change for you – you freeze like someone threw cold water on you.”

“I panicked,” Mia muttered, smiling into her palm.

Elena rolled her eyes playfully. “Well, good news. You have another chance. You guys are traveling tomorrow, yeah?” Mia nodded.

“Perfect,” Elena said, sitting up straighter. “Don’t just work. I’m begging you. Clean up that web in your coochie and do something fun with that man.”

“Elena!” Mia gasped, laughing out loud now.

“What?” Elena shrugged with the most serious face she could muster. “You love him, he loves you. You’re in a private jet with no distractions. Don’t waste it doing spreadsheets.” 1

Mia was still laughing, trying to cover her face, but Elena reached over and pulled her into a side hug.

“You deserve love, Mia,” she said more softly now. “The full kind. Not the half-waiting, second-guessing kind. Go get it.”

Mia leaned her head on Elena’s shoulder. “Okay.”

“Good.” Elena smiled, satisfied. “Now go moisturize everything. I mean everything.”

Mia let out a fresh burst of laughter. “You’re unbelievable.’

“And you love me for it.”

Mia stayed with Elena for hours, both talked about everything…. from the project to their little secrets, laughs, and even the kiss with Mose. It felt good to talk like that again, to laugh and be real with her friend.

After their chat, Mia went back to her room to get ready for the trip. As she packed her things, a soft smile tugged at her lips. It was funny – she had just gotten back, and now she was heading out again.

But this trip was different. It was Important. This wasn’t just another honeymoon.

It was the beginning of something bigger.. for her career, for her and Stefan… maybe even for her heart.

After making sure everything was set, she laid down before sleep took over.

The next day, they flew out in Stefan’s private jet.

The flight was smooth and quiet. Just the two of them and the sky.

Mia remembered Elena’s words and decided to stay a little more closer to Stefan. When she got a little tired, she leaned her head gently on his shoulder without saying anything.

For a second, he went still…. she knew he was surprised by her reaction. But she felt him relax almost immediately. A small smiled was evident in his face, making her smile too.

Jeremiah stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his collar. His wife moved closer, carefully buttoning his shirt like she always do.

“I heard Stefan and Mia got the contract,” she said, voice low but pointed.

Jeremiah raised a brow. “Yeah. I didn’t expect that.”

She paused, stilling her fingers on the button. “And you’re ust going to let that slide?”

He gave a soft chuckle. “It’s nothing. Just a one-time thing Let’s say, they got lucky. They don’t even have a real structure…. they don’t have an office setup, no headquarters, no executives, no board, no strong allies. Nothing. The government probably wanted to try something new. They won’t last. Give it a few weeks, they’ll fold. So, let them enjoy their small win.”

But his wife didn’t look convinced after his long speech. She folded her arms and gave him that look.

“I heard Samuel is already trying to sabotage them,” she said squeezing her face. “And if he succeeds, guess who they’ll hand the project to? Definitely not us.” That made Jeremiah pause. He looked at her, then slowly nodded.

“You’re right. We can’t sit back. We need to stay ahead. I’ll all my guy. Tell him to keep an eye on them… track every move.”
