Chapter 101 Standing Up for Diana

Todd walked over and gently pulled Josie into a hug.

Then he looked at his parents, who had tears in their eyes and were too emotional to speak. He nodded firmly and gave them the answer they had been waiting for, “Yeah! There’s hope! I might not go back to the way I was before the injury, but at least it shouldn’t get worse. I won’t lose control or go crazy, and I’m not leaving you!”

“That’s amazing! Thank God! This is wonderful!” Todd’s mom, Lydia Allen, couldn’t hold it in anymore and cried. His dad wiped his eyes, his shoulders shaking.

The whole family hugged each other, finally letting out all the tears they had been holding in all this time. But these weren’t tears of pain or despair anymore; these were tears of hope and a new beginning.

After a while, everyone calmed down a bit.

Todd looked around and asked, “Where’s Diana? Is she not out of school yet?”

It had been so long since he last held his daughter. He missed her so much it hurt. He couldn’t wait to finally hold her in his arms again.

A chubby boy pointed at her and laughed loudly, “Why are you crying, crybaby? Your dad’s going crazy! My mom said he’s about to be locked up! You’re not gonna have a dad anymore!”

“Yeah! Psycho’s kid! Stay away from us!” another girl joined in.

“No, he’s not! My dad isn’t crazy! He’s a hero!” Diana suddenly looked up. Her face was full of tears as she shouted back, her voice shaking.

But her voice sounded so small against all of them.

Diana stumbled and almost fell. Her tears came down even harder, but she bit her lip and refused to cry out loud.

He’d never hated himself more for the pain and embarrassment his injury had put his family through.
