“Shut up!” Mick snapped, shaking with anger after being exposed.

What he hated most was people saying he got where he was because of Tiffany. In his mind, everything he had now was earned by his own ability. Tiffany had nothing to do with it.

At that moment, his last bit of control snapped. Without caring where he was, he slammed his hand on the table. His finger trembled as he pointed at Elizabeth and Fiona. Like always, he tried to crush them with power and shouting. “Who do you think you are? How dare

But Elizabeth didn’t move.

Jeremy, who had been standing beside her, stepped forward and placed himself in front of her. “Colonel Conte, watch your words and behavior,” he said calmly. “Mrs. Hewitt is the young mistress of the Hewitts. Her status and dignity aren’t something you can insult.”

The rage on Mick’s twisted face froze the moment Jeremy stepped in.

“You’re from the Hewitts?”

Jeremy gave a simple introduction. “My name is Jeremy. I currently serve as the butler of Hewitt Castle.”

“No way!” Mandy was the first to react. She stared at him in disbelief. “Why would the Hewitts defend a woman like her? Everyone knows she drugged a man before and got exiled because of her bad reputation! There’s no way the Hewitts would accept someone like her. Who are you really? Did Elizabeth hire you to act and fool us?”

She believed every rumor she had read online and refused to accept what was right in front of her.

Mick didn’t speak, but the doubt in his eyes showed he thought the same.

They simply couldn’t understand why the powerful Hewitts would protect Elizabeth like this.

Standing nearby, Corey was sweating bullets. He wished he could run over and cover Mandy’s mouth.

He quickly stepped forward to shatter their delusion. “Colonel Conte, Mrs. Conte, show some respect! This is Jeremy Hewitt, the butler of the Hewitts! If you keep spreading lies and slandering Mrs. Hewitt, no one will be able to save you!”

Corey’s words stunned both Mick and Mandy.

He really was the Hewitts‘ butler.

And the Hewitts were truly protecting Elizabeth.

That realization made them panic.

Now that everything was clear, Corey began handling the case fairly.

After carefully reviewing the security footage and both sides‘ statements, he announced, “According to the video, Terence was the one who started it by throwing a ball and insulting others. Colonel Conte attempted to assault Tasha without understanding the situation. Mrs. Hewitt and her companions acted in self–defense. Although someone on Colonel Conte’s side was injured, Mrs. Hewitt’s group didn’t provoke the incident and caused no serious harm. Therefore, the charge of intentional assault doesn’t stand.”

Elizabeth spoke calmly, “Chief Rigby, they falsely accused us of extortion and even tried to use their authority to detain us unfairly. Does that count as slander?”

Jeremy added at the right moment, “Chief Rigby, in addition, Mrs. Hewitt is the legal spouse of General Hewitt, an active high–ranking officer. She is a protected military family member. Malicious accusations and attempts to harm the rights of military families can, under the Military Protection Act, be transferred to a military court if the case is serious.”

A military court?

Mick nearly lost his soul when he heard that.

He knew very well–if this went to a military court, his career would be over. Everything he relied on would disappear.

“No! I can’t go to a military court!” Mick panicked completely. He no longer cared about pride as he hurried to explain, “Jeremy, Chief Rigby, Ms… Mrs. Hewitt, this is all a misunderstanding. I lost my head because the child was hurt! I really didn’t know who you were. If I had known you were General Hewitt’s wife, I would never have done this!”

He forced a smile uglier than crying and begged, “Mrs. Hewitt, this is all my fault. We’re willing to compensate you and your friends for emotional damage. Please, just let this go. Don’t make this a big deal and please don’t take it to military court. I’m begging you!”
