Chapter 32 Stumbled

It was almost nine o’clock already. Telling her to come earlier at the last minute was clearly on purpose.
Elizabeth leaned back in her bus seat. Her tone sounded casual, but her answer was firm. “Lieutenant Guerrero, we agreed on ten o’clock. I will arrive before ten. I’m sorry, but I can’t adjust to the new time.”
There was a short silence on the other end. Elmer clearly didn’t expect her to refuse so directly. When he spoke again, his voice was colder. “Where are you right now?”
“At Centria Planet Freight Hub.”
Another pause. She could even hear his faint breathing through the call. He obviously couldn’t understand why a woman about to register her marriage with Cristian would be at a freight hub.
“From Centria Planet Freight Hub to the First Marriage Registration Hall,” he said, sounding like he was holding back his emotions, “an air taxi takes less than 20 minutes. You can make it before nine. Isn’t that correct?”
“Oh, because I only have 50 stellar coins,” Elizabeth said honestly, there was even a hint of pride in her voice, “So, I can only afford the public air bus.”
She really was proud.
The money left in her account was just enough for two bus tickets. She had calculated it perfectly.
On the other side, Elmer fell into a long, suffocating silence.
Elizabeth imagined his face probably looked terrible.
A few seconds later, the call was cut off without another word.
She shrugged and was about to ignore it when her device suddenly made a crisp notification sound.
“An unknown account has transferred 1,000 stellar coins to you. Note: Taxi fare.”
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow when she saw the extra 1,000 stellar coins in her account.
When the air bus reached the next stop, she calmly got off.
Well, since he had paid for it, she would cooperate a little.
Centria Planet’s First Marriage Registration Hall felt very different today.
The large hall, which should have been full of couples, was strangely quiet. Aside from uniformed stall who looked tense, there were no other visitors.
The entire place had been cleared. All for one special marriage registration–the wedding registration of the Kingdom War God, General Cristian Hewitt.

He wore a dark green military uniform. The general’s stars on his shoulders shone brightly. His posture was straight and strong. His cold, sharp face looked like it had been carved from stone. Every line was perfect.
Even when he just stood there quietly, the powerful aura around him made the staff extremely nervous. Everyone worked carefully, afraid of disturbing him.
Time passed slowly. It was getting closer and closer to 9:00 a.m.
Cristian glanced at his watch and frowned slightly. The pressure in the room seemed to drop even lower. The air felt heavy.
Two minutes before nine, his military encrypted device suddenly buzzed with urgency.
Cristian checked the message quickly. It was an emergency report from the front lines.
His expression darkened. Without hesitation, he gave an order to Elmer. “There’s a situation at the front. I must return immediately. Start the registration process first. Stay here and wait for her. Help her complete the rest of the procedures.”
“Yes, General!” Elmer stood straight and saluted.
Cristian quickly finished the part of the registration system that required his personal confirmation. Then, surrounded by several officers, he left the First Marriage Registration Hall.
He didn’t even glance again at the file of Elizabeth–the woman who would soon legally become his wife.
When Elizabeth finally arrived at the First Marriage Registration Hall at exactly nine, she was surprised. The entrance was crowded.
Reporters. Curious citizens. Well–dressed people who looked like they were from powerful families.
She frowned but didn’t think too much about why they were there. She just tried to squeeze her way inside.
Suddenly, the crowd in front stirred. As if they had received some signal, people quickly moved to both sides and opened a path.
Elizabeth was pushing forward hard. The sudden empty space made her lose her balance. She stumbled
forward.
