Elmer and the director both froze. For a second, they thought they had heard her wrong.
Elmer stared at Elizabeth in shock. “Are you sure you want to give up alimony?”
Is she crazy?
That is 30% of General Hewitt’s assets. Thirty percent! It is a huge fortune. Enough to drive anyone insane.
Elizabeth’s voice was calm and firm. “I’m very sure. We can remove that clause, right?”
Elmer frowned. Doubt filled his eyes.
Finished
He looked at her carefully and asked, testing her, “Ms. Schofield, are you doing this on purpose? Trying to delay the divorce? Or maybe trying to get General Hewitt’s attention?”
Elizabeth almost laughed from anger. She rolled her eyes. “Whoever refuses to divorce is trash. Just tell me if it’s allowed. Or what? Is General Hewitt afraid I’ll get rich in the future, and he doesn’t want to lose this ‘future alimony‘?”
“You!” Elmer almost laughed in disbelief.
General Hewitt coveting her money? That is the biggest joke of the year.
After all the paperwork was done, Elizabeth didn’t want to stay a second longer. The place felt stiff and cold. It made her uncomfortable.
She turned and was about to leave. “Ms. Schofield, please wait!” The director hurried after her. He held out a delicate black velvet box with both hands. “This is a special protective device made by the Kingdom for every spouse of an SSS–level mental power user. Please accept it.”
Elizabeth stopped. She took the box and opened it.
Inside was a beautiful purple diamond–shaped chip. The material looked special. It gave off a faint energy glow.
“This is the shield? How do I use it?” She held it up to the light.
The director quickly explained, “This is the highest–level security chip. Just insert it into your wristband device. If you’re ever in danger, press hard on the spot where the chip is installed. It will instantly create a high–strength energy shield. It can block most normal weapons and buy you time until help arrives.”
“So powerful?” Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, She looked interested. Then she asked, “Does it do anything else?”
Like tracking?
The director hesitated. His eyes shifted.
Elmer couldn’t stand it anymore. He spoke coldly, “The moment the shield activates, the Kingdom’s central AI will receive a top–priority alert. It will lock onto your exact location. It will also tag the attacker’s

identity and track their movement. Rescue will be sent immediately, and the criminal will be hunted down.”
Elizabeth nodded slowly. “I see. So, if I don’t activate it, it’s just decoration?”
Elmer glanced at her. His face was serious. “As long as you don’t activate it, the chip stays completely silent. It won’t send signals. It won’t record anything.”
Elizabeth looked at the purple chip in her hand. Then she looked at Elmer. He seemed a little impatient, but upright and strict in his military uniform.
After thinking it over, she decided the benefits were greater than the risks. In a real emergency, it could save her life. As for tracking, she just wouldn’t use it unless she had to.
Seeing the uniform that stood for the Kingdom’s discipline, she chose to trust him and accept this “official benefit.”
“Fine. Thanks.” She snapped the chip into the special slot on her red device. It fit perfectly. It flashed once, then went quiet.
After that, she waved without looking back and walked out of the Marriage Registration Hall.
