Chapter 12
Outside the Radren Supreme Court, the media had already set up their cameras and microphones.
This was a high–profile business murder case.
Renowned entrepreneur Brycen Sloan was charged with murdering a competitor, with a solid chain of
evidence. The defendant hired Ushurg “Unbeaten King” Angelo for defense, while the victim’s family enlisted
the just–returned “Queen of Law” Prissie.
Two top lawyers faced off for the first time, and the courtroom was packed.
The trial started, with Priscilla as the prosecutor’s lawyer making the opening statement.
She stood in the center of the courtroom, her black suit making her look powerful, her voice clear and sharp.
“The defendant Brycen called the victim three times on the night of the incident. The call records show that
after the last call, the victim’s phone signal disappeared, and the body was found early the next morning.”
She clicked the remote control, and the driving record of the defendant’s vehicle appeared on the projection
screen – “During the time of the incident, his car was seen near the victim’s neighborhood.”
“More importantly,” she paused for a second, her gaze sweeping over the jury, “we found the defendant’s DNA
in the victim’s fingernail.”
The courtroom was in an uproar.
Angelo furrowed his brow, “This case is trickier than he expected.”
When it was Angelo’s turn to cross–examine, he stood up and walked to the witness stand with a calm
demeanor.
“The dashcam footage can only prove that my client passed through the area, not that he actually entered
the deceased’s home.”
He turned to the jury and continued, “As for the DNA, my client and the deceased were business partners, so
it was normal for them to have physical contact before.”
The logic was tight, the arguments were strong, it should have been a evenly matched contest.
He didn’t notice Priscilla until his gaze accidentally swept over her.
She was looking down at the materials, her profile looking cold and stern, her eyelashes casting a small shadow under the light.
At that moment, Angelo saw a glimpse of Priscilla from three years ago.
She sat quietly at the dining table, under the warm yellow light, waiting for him to come home for dinner, but he… always ignored her.

“Mr. Haley?” the judge reminded, “Please continue with your questioning.”
Angelo suddenly snapped out of it and forgot the next question for a moment.
Priscilla looked up and met his gaze, a faint smirk playing on her lips.
During the closing argument phase, Priscilla stood up and walked slowly towards the jury.
“The defendant claimed to have a good relationship with the deceased, but…”
She took out a flash disk and played a recording, “This was a week before the incident, the defendant
threatening the victim at a private club.”
“There was no surveillance inside the room, but at the entrance near the defendant and the victim’s private room, the surveillance captured a sentence when the waiter pushed the door open…”
In the recording, Brycen’s voice was full of hatred: “I’ll tell you! If you dare to steal my project again, I’ll make
sure you end up dead!”
The jury members‘ faces changed suddenly.
“Brycen didn’t expect someone to barge in, trying to shut up the waiter by threatening and tempting him. He also didn’t think the surveillance cameras in the hallway could prove anything. ‘Just drinking together, that’s
all.”
“The victim probably didn’t expect that he was drinking… a decapitation wine,” Priscilla followed up
triumphantly, “The evidence chain is complete, the motive is clear, enough to prove that this was a deliberate
murder, not an accident!”
She turned to Angelo, speaking softly but with a sharp look in her eyes, “Mr. Haley, the law won’t distort the
truth just because of a defense lawyer’s reputation.”
This sentence, like a hammer, smashed his lofty tower beneath his feet.
When the judge announced the adjournment for deliberation, Angelo sat at the defense table, tapping his
fingers on the desk unconsciously.
He never lost focus in court.
Today, his mind was full of Priscilla.
Her calm demeanor, the sharpness of her rebuttal, and the icy look in her eyes when she looked at him…
Half an hour later, the judge pronounced, “Defendant Brycen, guilty of murder, sentenced to life
imprisonment.”
Angelo lost the case.
The media went crazy, flashlights were flashing like crazy, and the headlines quickly made it to the trending
topic.
