The Stranger Behind My Orgasm novel Chapter 196

Chapter 196: PROTECTING HIS GIRLFRIEND

Abigail

Nothing like a good old serious talk about a murderer to yank someone out of a perfect orgasm.

Finnegan and I were tangled together in the massive bed. My head rested on Finnegan’s bare chest, rising and falling with his steady breathing.

The gold waist chain he’d bought me in Santorini still sat around my waist, cool against my skin. My favorite piece of jewelry used to be a necklace Meemaw had given me for college graduation, but this chain was rapidly climbing to the top of the list.

My body was deliciously sore from him fucking me beside the mirror, and my ass — gosh. I squeezed my eyes shut when it clenched at the memory of his fingers invading it.

Next would be his cock. Oh, I couldn’t wait to watch him lose his mind when that happened.

As delicious as that was, though, my mind wouldn’t stop racing with everything that had happened tonight.

"We should probably talk about what to do about Gavin," I whispered, tracing my finger over his belly.

Finnegan’s hand, which had been stroking my back, stilled. "There’s nothing much to talk about. I’ll handle it."

I lifted my head, frowning up at him. "Hold up, Mr. I-Can-Fix-It-All. This is my problem."

"Like hell it is," he growled.

"Finn, this isn’t something we can just wave away. Gavin killed Cole. He tried to kill me. He threatened Annette tonight. He’s dangerous, and he’s clearly working with someone bigger. I can’t just put you and—"

You know what the jerk did?

He cut me off with a deep, possessive kiss that stole the rest of my argument. His hand cupped the back of my head, holding me close as his tongue swept into my mouth, slow and thorough.

When he finally pulled back, my brain was mush, and I completely forgot what I was saying.

"Do you trust me?" he murmured, voice low and rough.

I blinked rapidly and managed a dazed, "Yeah?"

"Then trust me with this," he said, brushing his thumb over my bottom lip. "I’ll do everything — everything — to protect you and Annette. Let me handle Gavin. Okay, baby?"

He called me baby. I was pretty much a goner.

The sincerity in his voice and the raw protectiveness in his eyes melted the last of my resistance. I nodded, pressing my forehead against his chest.

"Okay," I breathed. "I trust you."

And that was all that mattered.

He pressed a kiss to the top of my head and pulled me closer, his arms wrapping around me.

The next morning, the penthouse was very much alive. I walked into the kitchen to the sound of laughter and the smell of pancakes, bacon, and fresh coffee.

Angel was dramatically flipping pancakes. Most of them landed half on the plate, half on the counter. River was tossing pancakes at Annette, who tried to catch them in her mouth.

Finnegan leaned against the island in a perfectly tailored suit, holding up two cups of coffee.
