Abigail
I gaped at the screen in disbelief, refreshing the news over and over. The headlines were on every single news outlet on the internet I could think of.
Damn, Finnegan hadn’t hesitated; he really wasn’t playing around.
This was something I couldn’t have managed on my own. The police wouldn’t even listen to me, and the one time they did, Gavin still got to roam around scot-free.
Now that his picture was plastered all over the media as a wanted man, that should make his life a little difficult — I prayed to all the saints above that it would.
That asshole deserved to suffer after everything he put my best friend through; hell, he was the reason we couldn’t even sleep in our apartment right now.
The thought sent a warm flutter through my chest. He had told me to let him handle it. It felt strange letting him, though. I was used to fixing my problems myself. Knowing I had someone like him I could lean on made me feel all giddy inside.
I pressed my thighs together under the desk, still feeling the ghost of his fingers from the night before inside me. He really wanted to take care of me? Was it simply because I was his girlfriend... or more?
Oh god, here we go again. I slapped my palms over my cheeks, trying to chase the heat out of them.
I was so damn grateful that he helped me, but now I was also getting terrified. Terrified of becoming hooked on Finnegan like some junkie.
The door to his office swung open, and a group of men in suits filed out, laughing and talking. I guess the meeting was over. One of them, Mr. Clarion, paused at my desk, his eyes dropping blatantly to my tits through the black top I had on. With the way he was leering at them, you’d think I had them on display at a museum.
"Miss Kellerman," he licked his lips, "you get more beautiful every time I see you. If you ever get tired of working for this tyrant, my company would love to steal you away. We pay very well... and the view would be much better."
The view of his office, or the view of my tits?
I ignored him, clicking rapidly on my keyboard until he slunk toward the elevator awkwardly.
I shook my head — and froze when my eyes caught Finnegan at the doorway. His face shuttered instantly, jaw tightening, emerald eyes turning cold as he tracked Clarion’s exit.
He didn’t say a word and just turned sharply, disappearing back into his office. I bit my lip to hide my smile. Jealous Finnegan was dangerously hot.
I waited until the last man left, then stood up, smoothing my skirt before slipping into his office and locking the door behind me.
He sat at his desk, studying something on his computer screen. "Do you need something, Miss Kellerman?"
"Why are you so grumpy, Mr. Wolfe?" I asked sweetly, rounding his desk.
