Alexander landing in hot water at a time like this couldn’t help but make people wonder if someone was using the situation to take out the competition.
She was just thinking it might be Lucas‘ doing–after all, Alexander had been making himself a lot more visible around Caleb these past few days.
But before she could even finish the thought, the front door of the mansion was shoved open from outside. Along with Alexander’s roar, loud enough to tear through the roof, the quiet afternoon at Ashford Villa was instantly blown apart.
“Lucas, you spineless coward! You shameless son of a–I’ll kill you!”
Alexander stormed in first, his eyes bloodshot. It was obvious he’d come straight from the police station without even stopping home.
Behind him were his parents, their faces just as grim, and a young woman sobbing uncontrollably–his wife.
Hearing the noise, Lucas emerged from his study. For a split second, surprise flashed across his face, but then he quickly slipped back into his usual calm, innocent demeanor.
“Alexander, what is this? Why are you making a scene here at home?”
“Making a scene?!” Alexander screamed at the top of his lungs. “Cut the act! You think I don’t know what’s going on? Just because I visited Caleb a few extra times lately, you couldn’t handle it. You were scared I’d snatch your spot, so you set me up and leaked all that dirt to knock me out of the race for good, didn’t you?!
“All this time you’ve been playing the refined gentleman, but underneath, you’re nothing but a vicious, scheming bastard!”
Lucas frowned, his expression darkening. His voice held a trace of controlled irritation. “Watch what you say. Why would I do something like that? Alexander, you need proof for accusations like that. Get your facts straight before you start throwing around lies!”
Riley decided to head downstairs to watch the drama unfold.
But her appearance only poured gasoline on the fire.
Alexander’s gaze snapped toward her. His bloodshot eyes were burning with resentment. He suddenly pointed a finger at Riley. “And her! If you wouldn’t dare do it yourself, then what about your wife?! She comes from nowhere, schemed her way into the Ashford family just to latch onto power and play the glamorous chairman’s wife. To make sure you inherit everything, there’s no low trick she wouldn’t pull!”
Riley paused for a second.
Well, this was just… getting blamed for nothing.
“Alexander if you’re going to point fingers, at least aim straight, okay?”

Riley replied coolly.

“The stuff that came out about you… it’s clearly insider information only people in your circle would know.”
She looked up, her gaze clear and sharp. “I’m at the office every day, buried in work. I don’t pay attention to anything outside of it. I don’t even know who you hang out with–why would I care about your messy personal life?”
Alexander wasn’t the sharpest, but the key point in Riley’s words cut through the haze of his rage for a
moment.
She was right.
The crowd he usually ran with was exactly the kind full of models and C–list celebrities.
For a scandal like his to break, you’d have to be in that world or know someone who was to get such detailed, accurate information.
And wasn’t that exactly the scene Sophia was most familiar with?
Besides, right before his scandal blew up today, the number one trending spot had clearly been taken by Sophia’s huge “secret love child” mess!
Everyone online had been talking about Sophia.
But then today, his own dirty laundry had dropped even more explosively, perfectly replacing hers and dragging all the attention onto him.
This was clearly a carefully planned diversion–a classic sacrifice play.
Once he pieced it together, Alexander’s anger erupted at full force.
“Lucas!” His voice held a desperate, scorched–earth edge. “Good… really good! Since you decided to play dirty, don’t blame me for fighting back. Today, I’m going to rip off that gentleman act of yours in front of everyone!”
He started spilling everything, holding nothing back.
