Chapter 347 Leaving Havenbrook
It was as if they were stripping away every last trace of her sparkle.
“No… please, stop!”
But no matter how hysterical she became, it changed nothing.

From a concealed staircase that led from the banquet hall up to the second floor VIP lounge, Riley stood quietly, watching the chaotic scene unfold below.
She saw Lucas–the man who had once played the devoted partner and painted himself as the victim–coldly turn on Sophia the noment everything spiraled out of control, using her as a shield against the public’s outrage.
She watched Sophia, who had believed herself the victor, have every piece of jewelry that symbolized her status forcibly removed while people pointed and stared with contempt. Until, completely broken, she covered her face and scurried away through a side exit like a frightened animal–utterly pitiful.
And just like that, what was supposed to be Lucas and Sophia’s “proposal of the century” veered completely off course, morphing nto the most talkedabout scandal in all of Havenbrook.
Riley let out a soft sigh, feeling a weight she had carried for years finally lift from her chest.
Right then, the calm, crisp scent of cedar and winter air approached from behind.
Sebastian appeared beside her. His tall frame enveloped her, muffling the distant noise like a silent, steadfast barrier.
She turned slowly and looked up into his deep, steady eyes.
A faint smile touched her lips.
Then she reached for his cool, broad hand and said quietly, “Let’s go. Let’s leave Havenbrook.”
Sebastian had waited too long for this moment.
His fingers closed firmly around hers. The chill that had resided in his gaze for over two decades finally thawed, softening into something warm and sure.
“Yes,” he answered, his voice low and certain.
On the way to the airport, Sebastian studied Riley’s composed profile and asked what had been on his mind. “How did you arrange for Alexander to make that scene?”
Riley glanced out the window at the passing city lights. “Alexander isn’t evil by nature–just entitled, a classic Ashford heir raised with too much privilege. But Sophia used him as a pawn again and again. He ended up tangled in scandals, then cast out of the family without a second thought. All that resentment was bound to explode sooner or later.
“So I had someone anonymously send him a flash drive with a few of Sophia’s compromising photos. I never even had to reach out to him directly. His anger did the rest. He didn’t stop to wonder who sent it or why–he just seized the chance to drag both Lucas and Sophia through the mud, using everything he had to ruin them.”
Sebastian nodded slowly, impressed.

Riley had cleverly channeled Alexander’s rage toward her targets without ever stepping into the fray herself.
Even better, in Lucas‘ mind, she remained the gentle wife he had sent abroad for her own protection.

So when word eventually reached Havenbrook about her marriage to Sebastian–amid Lucas‘ own crumbling world–he would only assume Sebastian had taken advantage of his vulnerability. It would never occur to him that Riley herself had orchestrated it
all.
After a moment, Sebastian thought of something else. “And the information on Sophia–how did you get it?”
‘I made a deal with Brandon,” Riley replied honestly. “He’d asked me to dinner, and I intended to meet him in person. But Lucas noved faster than I expected and restricted my movements, so I settled the agreement over the phone.”
At the mention of that name, Sebastian’s jaw tightened almost imperceptibly.
He had always known Riley was extraordinary, and he’d expected that once she was free, others would see it too.
still, he hadn’t anticipated a new contender appearing so soon after Lucas‘ downfall.
His usually relaxed mouth pressed into a thin line.
Drive faster,” he instructed quietly. “Head straight onto the tarmac.”
here, his private jet was already cleared for departure, waiting on the runway.
