Riley knew she owed Brandon a favor for helping her take down Sophia before. It felt wrong to just leave him hanging like this.

She glanced cautiously at Sebastian’s face, tugged lightly at his sleeve, and said in a coaxing tone, “Look… he did help me out once after all. I’ll just go check on him and get him out, that’s all.”

Sebastian stared at her quietly, countless emotions swirling deep in his eyes.

After a moment, he finally gave in and let out a helpless sigh. “I’m going with you.”

Riley hadn’t fully figured out what Brandon was really up to.

But as a man, Sebastian saw right through all his tricks.

We barely get to enjoy our honeymoon peacefully, and he just has to stir up trouble.

Sebastian headed to the police station with Riley.

As soon as they walked in, they spotted Brandon sitting on the bench, waiting.

He did look rather messy–his pricey custom shirt was wrinkled, and his hair was disheveled. Even so, a playful smile still lingered on his handsome face, and his eyes lit up the second he caught sight of Riley.

As a business elite who mostly stayed overseas and in Havenbrook, Brandon rarely visited this region. He had no idea that mobile payment was so widely used here that people could get around easily just with a phone.

He was used to carrying plenty of cash with him. He accidentally flashed his money while taking a taxi at the airport, catching the greedy driver’s eye. The driver teamed up with thieves to trick him and stole all his cash, wallet, and documents in one go.

What made things worse was that he had no local payment accounts here, leaving him totally broke and unable to go anywhere on

his own.

He really was in a tough spot this time.

Riley let out a sigh and resigned herself to help finish all the paperwork to get him out of the station. She also booked him the nicest hotel nearby, right on her phone.

Standing in the bright sunlight outside the police station, Riley sent him the hotel address and said in a business–like tone, “I’ve booked your room. Head there by yourself.”

Brandon acted like he hadn’t heard a word she said. He rubbed his empty stomach and put on a pitiful look. “Ms. Harper, could you treat me to a meal first? I’m starving.”

Right after he finished speaking, Sebastian said coldly, “Didn’t Riley give you cash earlier? Why don’t you get food on your own?”

Riley had withdrawn some cash for him just now.

Brandon flinched slightly as if frightened by Sebastian’s icy attitude, then edged closer to Riley and whined dramatically, “Ms. Harper, your boyfriend is so intimidating.”

Worried that Lucas would do something again, Riley could no longer turn him down so firmly.

She pressed her lips together, looking clearly reluctant. “Fine then, just one meal.”

“Awesome.” Brandon brightened up instantly, all his earlier disappointment nothing but a show.

He even snuck a sideways glance at Sebastian, whose face had turned utterly gloomy, tossing over a triumphant look.
