He held her closer, his voice gentle yet steady as he comforted her, “Then be a little patient and wait for me to remember.”

Tears Riley had just fought back threatened to spill again at his simple reply.

She buried her face deeper in his chest and mumbled a quiet “okay“, a firm resolution taking root silently in her heart.
