Chapter 645 Revenge at Work
Chapter 645 Revenge at Work
Raymond closed his eyes, took a slow breath, and turned the shower knob a little cooler.
It had taken everything in him to keep his composure under that kind of temptation.
Another twenty minutes went by before the doorbell finally chimed.
By then, Claudia had mostly gathered the clothes scattered around the room.

She answered the door, accepted a neatly packaged garment bag from a well–dressed young man, and walked over to the bathroom.
“Knock, knock.” She tapped lightly on the door.
“Your suit’s here.” Leaning against the doorframe, she heard the water shut off inside. Given how long Raymond had been in there, she couldn’t resist adding a playful jab. “What, scrubbing your skin raw in there? Trying to wash the night off?”
Not long after, the bathroom door opened.
Raymond stepped out in the fresh suit, his hair still damp. He looked perfectly put together, though his handsome face was darkened by a scowl.
Seeing his stormy expression, Claudia felt a twinge of guilt for some reason.
She touched the bridge of her nose and finally backed down. “Okay, this one’s on me. I’ll make it up to you with dinner sometime.”
Raymond only let out a low, unimpressed hum–a tacit acknowledgment–but didn’t agree out loud.
Adjusting his cuffs, he headed straight for the door, clearly ready to leave for the office.
Claudia followed behind him.
But as the door swung open, both of them froze.
Standing outside was Warren, still holding an insulated food container.
When he saw Raymond open the door, the warm smile on his face stiffened instantly.
Raymond’s body tensed up as well.
The air seemed to hang still for three solid seconds.
“Warren,” Raymond barely managed to get the name out.
Outside, Warren nearly dropped the container.
He’d had his housekeeper prepare seafood chowder early that morning and brought it over excitedly for his daughter–only to find Raymond, clearly not long out of the shower, answering the door!
Hearing Raymond’s strained greeting, Claudia rushed out from behind him.
When she saw her father’s expression shift from shock to anger. her heart almost leapt out of her chest

“Dad! Wait–let me explain! It’s not what it looks like!” she stammered, scrambling for words.
But Warren was past listening to excuses.
Pulling out his phone and ignoring Claudia’s protests, he dialed Zavier directly.
“Hello? Zavier?”
Riley hadn’t expected that in just one night, Raymond’s date with Claudia would have escalated so quickly.
Zavier was already discussing engagement plans with Warren,
Feeling like she’d missed all the action, Riley got Zavier’s call and went straight to Raymond’s effice to find him.
“You work fast. One night and you’re already talking wedding plans?”
Raymond turned, weariness clear on his handsome face.

He lifted a hand to rub his aching temples and sank into the chair behind his desk. “See what happens when you drink? Things get messy.”
“Messy?” Riley immediately caught the keyword, her eyes lighting up with a sly grin. “So… you had a bit too much last night, and with Ms. Belmont… things just… happened?”
She left the sentence hanging, but her suggestive look said plenty.
Raymond’s mind flashed back to Claudia hugging a pillow and bouncing around, insisting she was going to “perform a fairy flight,” and his headache pulsed again.
He shot his sister an irritated look. “It wasn’t anything like what you’re imagining.”
He definitely wasn’t going into details–it’d embarrass both him and Claudia.
He summed it up vaguely, “Anyway, we’re in this situation now, and her father walked right into it this morning. I’ve got to make things right with their family.”
His explanation was loose, but to Riley, it sounded like confirmation enough.
She nodded slowly, her smile widening.
“Well, since we’re basically family now, when are you introducing me and Sebastian to my future sister–in–law properly?
“We should meet up before the engagement party. It’d be way too awkward if the first time we see each other is there.”
At that, Raymond’s expression turned slightly complicated.
He gave a noncommittal reply, “I’ll check with her later… if she’s willing.”
He wasn’t even sure what Claudia was thinking now. After her father’s call that morning, everything between them had landed in an awkward, uncertain place.
Just then, a light knock sounded at the office door.
