HANNAH’S POV: 

The boardroom felt unusually bright today. Maybe it was the sunlight streaming through the tall windows, or maybe it was the energy in the room but it just seemed bright in a lovely way. 

Everyone was seated already. A rectangular glass table stretched across the room and digital screens displayed our brand name and collection title. Kara stood near the projector, Lucas was typing rapidly on his system, Maya looked like she was holding back á mischievous grin, and some new faces I didn’t recognize were nervously flipping through notes. 

The moment I stepped inside, a few heads turned. And then everyone stood. A few seconds of confused silence sat in the air before applause erupted.I blinked repeatedly and my heart raced. And for a moment, I didn’t know what was happening. 

Then Lucas stood from his chair and spread his arms dramatically. 

“Ladies and gentlemen, the Queen has returned!” Everyone laughed and clapped again. 

I covered my mouth, laughing breathlessly. “Oh, please. Sit down. You’re embarrassing me.” 

“Good,” Maya murmured. “You deserve to be embarrassed…successfully.” 

“Can someone tell me what is going on before I melt into the floor?” I asked, setting my bag with documents on the seat. 

Kara clicked a button on the remote. The screen behind her changed. My breath left my body. 

The title read when the graph that we had been observing for the past few weeks read, COLLECTION 07: SOLD OUT. 

And below it also read, Pre-Orders for Next Collection: 400% Growth. 

For two seconds, nobody said a word. They just waited. Watching me. Smiled like they had practiced holding the news in for too long. 

Lucas finally broke the silence. “Every single dress and accessory from your last runway show is gone. And I mean gone as in the website crashed twice from traffic and we had to upgrade the server before the final drop.” 

My lips parted and my voice cracked hearing that. “You’re joking.”
