The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 16

ELIJAH’S POV:

A FEW DAYS LATER:

“That’s all for the day?” I questioned my assistant, trying to tear my eyes from the screen in front of me where I had to review a bunch of documents uploaded to the company’s server.

She didn’t respond though she was standing by the door, so I darted my eyes to her and only to meet her staring at me with a dead look that yelled ‘unbelievable’.

“Yes sir and it is now currently past 8 and your parents and your fiancé have been calling as your cousin is arriving …” She trailed off when she saw the expression on my face.

“Apologies sir for my tone sir and I totally meant Miss Janet.” She instantly corrected and I could see the / remorseful yet tired look on her face.

“You’re dismissed.” I simply said dryly, darting my eyes back to the screen in front of me and letting out a breath

I was starting to think that every time she ‘accidentally’ mentioned Janet either as my wife or fiancée then quickly corrected herself, it was all a lie and it was just a devious plan orchestrated by my mum or Janet to instill in my thought that I should propose and make Janet my wife but sadly for them, it wasn’t working.

I loved having Janet around me sometimes, but I didn’t love her. How could I love her when her sister’s innocent eyes, gorgeous face, delicate skin was printed at the back of my mind and I just wanted to see her once again, go on my knees and plead for her forgiveness for how horribly I treated her. After the night, I made a vow to myself to never get wasted but I do occasionally have a drink especially a night like tonight where both my family and the Jones would be present and all with the same question in mind.

When is the wedding? When are we making the official move? While I remain silent and just repeat what shuts them up.

When I first met Janet, I was hooked by her confidence unlike the other girls I had met and the others with her that night. She was confident, witty, smart, as a matter of fact, when her face turned into a smile and she flipped her silky curly hair, I was ready to get down on one knee at that moment and make her mine forever.
