NINE MONTHS LATER:

It was finally here. The day I had been anticipating and planning and dreaming about for months. And my stress levels were absolutely through the roof.

We had hired one of the best event planners in the entire country, someone who’d coordinated weddings for celebrities and royalty. But my obsessive attention to detail wouldn’t let me just relax and trust the process. I needed to check everything myself. Multiple times.

“Hannah, sweetheart, everything is going to be absolutely fine. Today is going to be amazing and perfect.”

I’d been hearing those exact words, or some variation of them, from everyone. From Elijah to my Aunt Adele to even Amelia and Andrew, who’d both solemnly assured me this morning that “everything looked really pretty, Mommy.”

“Hannah,” Aunt Adele said softly for what had to be the fifteenth time in the last twenty minutes. Her warm, comforting hands rested gently on my shoulders as she looked at me with such love in her eyes. Everything is going to be fine. Today is going to be absolutely beautiful. You need to breathe and try to enjoy this.”

Elijah had said something similar earlier this morning when he’d snuck into my suite to see me, completely breaking tradition. His voice had been steady and reassuring even though I could tell he was just as emotional as I was about today.
